hey for the last 3 days at least with countless coasters in between i have been trying to get this damn mem card exploit to work so that i can transfer games from my pc to the ps2 via lan with a crossover cable. I am follwing this tutorial: http://lookatthemonkeys.com/html/ps2tut.html#C1 and i have gotten to the part where i boot up with my trigger ps1 game. It loads up the exploit and the hdd menu 0.31 but then at the bottom is says something along the lines of "failed to mount filesystem: hdd0:PP.HDL.WWE Smackdown! Vs. Raw 4294967293" and then when i press "x" says "Failed in filexioOpen pfs0/" and then i cant do anything.. plz help me what am i doing wrong i followed that tutorial as well as i could up to there and am really getting pissed off about this plz help me PLZ PLZ PLZ! here are the pics of the 2 screens as well

I assume that when you say 'hdd menu 0.31', you actually mean the HDD browser of the program PS2menu-K version 0.31, in which case the problem is clear.

The initial problem is simply that PS2menu-K always wants to set some HD partition for access through 'pfs0:' and usually will choose a partition that belongs to HDL, even though PS2menu-K is not able to access those partitions correctly. As long as no further access is attempted that is harmless, but further access is exactly what you commanded by pressing 'X', and that is why the program crashed.

Instead of pressing 'X' at that point, you may instead try pressing 'R1', so as to switch from browsing HDD to browsing MC, or pressing 'L1' to switch to another HDD partition, though the latter will be useless unless you have some partition prepared which is compatible to the normal file handling of the PS2.

You should try to find more info on PS2menu-K and the older PS2menu that it is based on, if that is the program you want to use for your PS2 file maintenance. Here I will only quote the Readme concerning the one command you attempted to use.

Cross : Attempt to execute a file, or change current folder

That is what you attempted to do, with browser set to an incompatible partition, so there is nothing strange about the resulting crash, though it would have been nicer if the program had simply refused without crashing.

If I understand you correctly, what you really want to do here is simply to copy stuff from CD to MC, possibly creating some new folders as well. PS2menu-K is well capable of doing that, but your first command then should be 'R1', so as to choose 'mc0:' as active device, then create the folders you need, if any, and choose the one to be used as first copy destination. Then you switch the browser to 'cdfs:' instead to select the files to be copied to the destination you recently chose (displayed at screen bottom).

If you then want to copy stuff to other MC folders as well, you will have to repeat that process again. First switching to MC and choose a destination folder, whereafter you switch to CD and copy files from it. Quite simple really, though a bit awkward compared to real GUI methods, but at present it's the best we have on the PS2.

But before you try ANY of those things, read and reread all the docs for PS2menu-K, as you have to know it well to have a chance of doing things right.

    Good Luck and
    Best regards: dlanor
