The only thing you can do is backup saves to the usb drive with ulaunchelf.

It can be done, sort of. Here's more or less how you do it:

1) Get a good MIPS disassembler. ps2dis isn't absolutely top-notch but it's quite good, especially for the price.

2) Pull down a copy of ps2sdk

3) Dump your PS2's BIOS

4) Trudge through the blob of binary code known as "MCMAN", identify and label all the entry points, then read through each subroutine and write notes on any bugs or other significant behavioral quirks

5) Using your notes, write and debug an ABI- and bug-compatible clone of the MCMAN module that emulates memory cards in files on a VFAT filesystem.

6) Write the glue code to interface it to a USB Mass Storage library

7) Write and debug a configuration/loader app to specify the emulated memcard image and load your replacement module into the IOP

And you're done.

No, though I heard the O2 guys have some kind of MCMAN hack/replacement to save to HD. I've also heard it only works properly with homebrew apps though, so heck if I know what the score is.

you can do it guyZ, its very easy

i all ready created one (64mb) on it, you can create over 1GB memory card but... take a ultra long time (a 64mb tooks 1 houer to complet) so all you have to do is to google for "HD project v1.7" for PSII. you will find a tutorial with it. or you can wait me to post it soon

Note:
USB virtual memCARD will not work with all PSII DVD's, still in work
