help using launchelf

hi i have a v4 ps2 with a matrix infinity v1.39 modchip
i burnt launchelf to cd and loaded it in my ps2.
i went to config settings and tryed to turn disc control off and save it but it says save failed
i have a max drive game save on my usb pendrive that i extracted using save builder that i want to get to my memory card
i go to mass drive option and the pendrive starts flashing but then just freezes does anyone know what im doing wrong?

LaunchELF wants to save its CNF file in a folder on MC, as "mc0:/SYS-CONF/LAUNCHELF.CNF", and that will fail if you have not created any folder named "SYS-CONF". Note however, that if you do create such a folder you also need to add a valid icon set for it (an "icon.sys" file and its related icon file(s)). Otherwise the PS2 browser will regards that folder as "corrupt data".

No, but it may simply be a case of unsupported device.
I had a 128 MB Kingston DT pendrive earlier, that only worked with ARMax Evo but not with LaunchELF, or any other homebrew software. I then swapped that with another guy for a 64 MB HP Disgo which works with all the stuff I use.
