    I'm not going to provide you with all the help you want, but I am going to clarify a few things that may help you find what you're looking for, and may help others here understand what you want...

    First: You don't even mention your PS2, but I assume that this is an unmodified console, and one of the old 'fat' models, since you mention the network adapter. This being the case you really should consider getting an HDD for it as well, but that is your choice.

    Second: I have to assume that what you call "independent hack" is in fact what we others call the "PS2 Independence Exploit". It has been spoken of under other names too, but the most common references all include the words "PS2" and "exploit" so you may want to use both those words in search strings when you look for info (here or elsewhere).

    Thirdly: I've been told that using the 'Game Shark" devices to install exploit on memory cards doesn't work on some PS2 models, but I don't know what the truth of this is, as I never had such a device. You need to check that with others, as well as the precise methods to be used if it does work.

    Most importantly, in asking others for help you need to make it clear what you want help with, which I can only guess at. Hopefully my guess is right in which case you really should ask for help in "Installing PS2 Independence Exploit, with Game Shark and Network adapter available", and don't forget to mention the model number of your PS2 so that somone who keeps track of such things can deduce what version your PS2 is, as that too can matter for some things. Oh, and you should also mention your PS2 region (US, Europe, Japan), as some things depend on that as well.

    Should I a make a folder to put the BOOT.ELF in or what
    Any input will help
    Thanks
    All files on a memory card should always be inside a folder, and that is not all. In addition to the data files an additional very special file needs to be there too. But all of this should already be taken care of for you, if you have prepared the exploit files correctly. When properly done this will create a folder on the memory card, with a name that depends on your PS2 region, and inside that folder you should also have your BOOT.ELF file. This special folder is the one that the PS2 also uses for its system configuration.

    In the PS2 Browser you'll see this folder as a 'save' named:
    "Your System"
    "Configuration"

    But the real folder name varies depending on your PS2 region:
    US => BADATA-SYSTEM
    Eu => BEDATA-SYSTEM
    Jp => BIDATA-SYSTEM

    The PC can't write on PS2 MC cards, so you need to trick the PS2 into doing it somehow. One way of doing that is to prepare a 'save file' using the PS2 Independence support programs. (Many different are available.) Once you have a PS2 save file in the format used by Game Shark, and have copied it to the USB device, then you should be able to use that in your PS2, and have Game Shark transfer it to your MC in usable form. Then, when you reboot the PS2, with the PS1 trigger disc that you chose earlier (in preparing the exploit file), the PS2 should start the BOOT.ELF you installed.

    Those are the basics of what you need to do, and from what I understand of your questions, you haven't even got the basic exploit tools yet..., so you have a long way to go. These issues have been dealt with so many times before, that I am not going to do it again, nor do I think others want to spend much time on it either, as it shouldn't be necessary.

    There are literally hundreds of tutorials on this subject. Good and detailed tutorials, with all necessary downloads available too, and they are found all over Internet. Find some of those tutorials and follow their instructions. That will make things much easier. Remember that 'Google is your friend', when looking for information of any kind.

    That could very well be the case, though I think it CAN do the job if you give it a decent chance.

    Now, I'm no expert on Game Shark, but I am aware that it is different from AR Max, so why do you expect a Max save to work with it ? To me it would make a lot more sense to try making a Game Shark save instead, and there are tools available to manipulate saves. One capable tool to create/convert saves for several formats is known as PS2SaveBuilder. That may very well solve your problem (assuming that you did prepare the exploit file properly, including the addition of your BOOT.ELF).

    Note that you can also use PS2SaveBuilder to inspect or modify the contents of a save (in almost any format), to make sure that it contains all that it should.

    So if you don't already have it, search for "PS2SaveBuilder" and try it out.

    How would I know ? I never use Game Shark.

    But my guess would be one of the 'Shark Port' formats.
    Why not try them, successively, and see if one of them works.

    The whole point is to use a format that the Game Shark you have can use, so that is the deciding factor.

    I know that you're trying to be helpful, but that's just not true. Google (& any other search engine) is very much a hit-or-miss affair; sometimes you'll find what you want right away (like if you give it a URL), & then there are the keyword searches, where 95% of the results will probably mention those keywords in results that mostly deal with people screwing kittens.

    I've spent over a month googling for just one thing with just 3 keywords, the search returned at least 10 million results, & I STILL haven't found what I'm looking for (although 1 out of every 3 results always has some shmoe bragging on some message board about how they found what I'm looking for, but refusing to tell anyone WHERE they found it). I'm still going through EVERY SINGLE ONE of the results (of that very same search) that doesn't reek of "online store", & so far I found ONE result that actually posted a link to what I wanted, & the lonely link was dead.
