Hello people.

First i'm portuguese and my english is bad. But i try to explain my problem.

I have two Ps2, and one works fine with SwapMAgic 3.6 and the other the laser head is recycled. Now i ask what i do to play without use the laser (cd's or dvd's) i read here to make an MC boot or Hd boot... but i don't know if this works without use laser.

I have an usb hd (80gb).
I have an MemoryCard (16mb)

It's possible yours help me and tell me how resolve this problem without buy a new laser???

First off we need to know, which PS2-Model yours is (the one with dead laser, or both to verify if both have the same MG-Region. --> Necessary to know before an FMCB-Install.).

Yepp,... "Free McBoot" a.k.a. "FMCB" is the name, what you´re looking for.

FMCB is compatible with all consoles of the same MG-Region after install (as long as you did the multi-install, else only with the same model/series, or not with all of the same MG-Region.).

FMCB is intended to work without a laser (even thought, it still supports the original functions...).
When your card is modded, it should work as follows: "Plug'n'Play".

An "Free HDBoot" is currently not possible.
Some parts (knowledge) are missing + it might stay impossible (due to Hardware/HD-PCB) and it will only work with FAT PS2s, which support the HD-Upgrade.
Another thing, to keep in mind.
If it got released someday,... A "Free HDBoot"-Install will only work on one PS2.
You can´t swap the HD after this (except you have a chance, to change the Console-ID which needs Homebrew normally anyway, so...).

16MB-MC? Make sure, it is compatible and not one which needs a boot-cd, before you start the game.

You can do the install with your working PS2 (as long as the 2last digits in the "SCPH-String" are identical).
You also can send your MC to one of the volunteers.

Well the good PS2 is: SCPH30004
Bad PS2: SCPH39004

Well the good PS2 is: SCPH30004
Bad PS2: SCPH39004

Good. Your consoles have the same MG-Region (04).
You can either use the swap-trick, or load from USB.

Should work.
I assume, it is a genuine Sony?
Clone-MCs should work also in most cases, but there are a few which are incompatible.

and with my good PS2 and swap magic. Then i try to put this in the dead PS2.

But When Swap Magic 3.6 Start, it fixed the image and don't happen anything....

But if i remove USB pen, it runs normaly and don't fix...

I format usb in Fat32, i put the files of MC Boot on root and uLe in SwapMagic directory but don't work....

Any Sugestion??

But now i have good news. I change my usb stick by other and than i can install Free MC Boot on my Memory Card.

Now i ask what i do for configure the USB hd disk and play games??
