copied my Ratchet & clank 3 max save to cpu, converted it to xps with XpsToMaxMem extracted the files with ps2savebuilder and edited the boltvalue to a million (address/offset: 00000024) with winhex. Converted it back to max and loaded it up into the game. Then the Problem: although the screen with the saves shows that the boltvalue is a million, when i try to load it, the load fails! could this be a checksum error??? it is strange, cause i only edited the numbers that was in use for the boltvalue from before, i didnt overwrite something else.
    someone????

I don't have that game, but what you describe is typical for a checksum problem.

In fact, when a checksum (of any kind) is used, it is never enough to edit just the data you wanted to change, but you must also adjust any checksums which were based on the edited data. Depending on the checksum method this may be easy, or extremely hard to do.

    Best regards: dlanor

If you post a copy of your original and unedited save someone might be able to help you with the checksum

ok, attached my original unedited ratchet & clank 3(pal) max-save(files not extracted)

info about what i want to edit, filename: save0.bin

    the values at offset 00000024, 00000025, 00000026:
new value at offset 00000024: 40
new value at offset 00000025: 54
new value at offset 00000026: 89

..so if someone wants to help out fixing this save-checksum it would be appreciated.
