Help with GOLDFIRE's MC exploit.
Help with GOLDFIRE's MC exploit. –
04-19-2006,06:53 PM
Hi guys,
This is the situation. I have 2 ps2s. One V10 and one V4.
V10 is modded with matrix infinity 1.75 + 120Gb HDD
V4 is modded with a non working 1st generation messiah chip + 20Gb HDD
I used Goldfire's MC exploit by taking the ID of my Original PSX1 game and using titleman applying to the files he had into his exploit "MC" directory. All good up to now.
I burn the disk using nero and I boot it up with my V10 and an empty memory card. Result: Installation Succesful!!!
No I place that MC to my V4 and I put the Original PSX1 disk inside (the one I took the SLES code from) and the problem is this:
THE GAME BOOTS normally like there is no exploit... WHAT can i do???
Please help the noob here...
Thank you ALL in advance,
A.

installing the exploit on jus one ps2 with the MC wont work... the exploit creates a directory in the "system-bxdata" folder and that folder is specific to a ps2 and may differ among diff ps2 and will differ if u have the MC exploit loaded on a ps2... so wat i mean to say is that you will have to install the exploit on the second ps2 too...
PS2 Specs:
PlayStation2 v10 SCPH - 50004(spray painted silver n black) | Matrix Infinity Green Dot | Seagate 120 gb HDD with NA

Multitap - USB Headset - Linux Kit

All ya have to do is do the same process for the v4 but you cant just use the card from the v10 because its a different ps2,different region so the file set is different.
Let me break it down.
Also remember that if you are trying to boot with a different game you need to make sure the games SLES is configured with the exploit.
V10=The memory card with the exploit that you have already done.
V4= Another card with a fresh install and not just a copy of the set of files or the card from the v10.

Thanks guys. I will see what I can.
The thing is that my V4 cannot boot any homebrew disks.
I have the action replay disk (+ dongle), I will see if I can do something with that. Any suggestions? I looked in all forums, but it is too frustrating for a noob like me.
Anyways... thanks alot again, your help is greatly appreciated.

That should not be a problem, as you do have another V10 PS2, which you can use to prepare the MC for the V4.

I assume you mean some kind of 'swap disc trick', which I would only go for as an absolutely last resort. Certainly not when another already exploited PS2 is available.
First let's consider what a normal BxDATA-SYSTEM folder contains, which is in fact just two files: "icon.sys" and "history"
No, I didn't forget "TITLE.DB" because this is NOT normally created by the PS2. That file is intended for some special features that are never used by normal programs, but which the exploit makes use of to create a controlled crash that results in starting a homebrew program. (Which is why Sony have removed this feature from the latest models.)
For the new exploit MC you should let the V4 generate those other two files and the containing folder by itself (You should already have it). Then you simply move that MC to the V10 (in the second slot), and use uLaunchELF (or some similar file browser) to copy the new TITLE.DB file (prepared on your PC for use on the V4) into that BxDATA-SYSTEM folder.
This way you get the functional part of the new exploit installed without affecting the normal system files, or affecting any of the regional settings. I haven't tried this myself, as I only have PS2s from one region, but it should work just fine.
Btw: If you wish you can also try copying BOTH the new and the old exploit folder to the same MC, so that it will work on both your PS2s. It will cost some space, of course, but if you have some to spare it's a convenient solution. If not, then you'll have to label your MCs clearly, to know which region each will work with.

Hi guys.
At the end, the problem was my original PSX1 games. For some stupid reason, even though I had i.e. Wipeout 2097 (SLES_XXX.XX) my disk (original disk purchased in Italy, & Greece) had a different SLES that did not work with my exploits. I used Crash Bandicoot and VOILA worked like a charm.
I used an exploit.max file that I uncrushed through ARMAX and the dongle. Transfered to the MC and after I booted up with CB game, everything worked like a charm. Currently transfering my Iso's through WinHIIP (great program).
Thank you SO MUCH for all your help, you guys I could not do anything without you. The good thing now is that even for a noob i feel more confident in fiddling with my ps2!
Take care all,
A.
