PS3 Virtual Memory Card Help
PS3 Virtual Memory Card Help –
seems that the ps3 wont detect my virtual memory cards. even if i assign them a slot. read through some forums that it has something to do with "corrupted data".
formatting the ps3's hdd solves the problem according to the forums and customer service per OP on that forum ive been reading. (sorry cant post links yet ).
anyway, if anybody knows or is familiar with this kind of problem, will actually reformatting the ps3's hdd solve it?(i wouldnt mind formatting it). or can i delete the bad data through mM via FTP. if so, then what & where is the data located so i can delete it. or if there are any other alternatives, please, shed some light.
Also, if, the only solution would be to reformat the ps3's hdd, do i have to reinstall custom firmware? do i have to follow a specific set of steps like downgrading the installing cfw again?
Sorry, can't help with the virtual memory problem, but I do know something about your last question. Depending on your model you may or may not have to re-install the firmware after you format the hard drive. If you have an older fat PS3 with 256MB NAND you won't need to re-install the firmware, otherwise you will.
Hmm, from what ive been reading, psn ps2 classics doesnt need a virtual memory card even though you have one assigned to a specific slot because the memory card function is within the psn ps2 classics game. i guess due to the fact not all ps3's are backwards compatible? but mine being a back up of my physical copy and converted with ps2 classics gui, i guess i wouldnt have that function?

now lets say i do reformat it, and after reformatting, id want to do a clean install of my cfw. do i have to downgrade or can i just reinstall the cfw?
thanks for the input.

PS2 Games converted to 'Cassics' should work on any PS3 because they don't rely on any backward compatibility hardware.
I believe you can just install your CFW over your current for a clean install, but I don't see much point in doing so.
That's correct, the normal virtual memory cards aren't used for ps2 classics, when compiling the ps2 classic the vme's(ps2 classics save files) need to be in the pkg, eg. gameid/USRDIR/SAVEDATA but if they're not there you should be able to add them to dev_hdd0/game/"GAMEID"/USRDIR/SAVEDATA, here they are if you don't have them SAVEDATA.rar | PutLocker
