DDS Development(No requests)

This thread is for the development of GTA IV DDS files.
No requests-but feel free to participate by trying to develop or import a PC texture.
Using Photoshop, Open IV, and CTE(Console Texture Editor)we will talk and help each other develop new ish!
New ish like the two different loading screens I presented this past week. One can have their very own custom loading ish.
We will talk about DDS,PNG, resizing, DxT1, DXT5,making a transparent DDS, etc...

One thing I do ask from everyone is no hate or complaining here please.

Loading Screens
One will need CTE and Open IV
To start off, lets us begin with the very beginning of what one sees loading up GTA IV. Grab the CTE in Pavel's thread and download the

With CTE and these two files one could open up the loadingscreens.ctd and see that the loading screens are made up of 19 dds files(1024x1024,256x256 and DXT1 or DXT4_5 in size and formats). Extract any dds file(1_1,2_1,3_1,etc.) with the CTE into a folder.
1-1.dds is the first pic one would see. There are also other dds files like 1_2.dds and 1_3.dds which I have made transparent in Photoshop to focus on the one pic. That is the same process I have done with 2_1,2_2,2_3_1,3_2, all the way to 6_3.
With photoshop(w/ dds plug in) one could copy and paste into the appropriate dds file(Ex. 1_1, 2_1, any dds file ending with _1 can be changed to see a pic in the native loading screen.)
Just remember to take note of the size and format which would be 1024 x 1024 in DXT1.

Events keep popping up that block my development. Events like the death of Megaupload and now mission problems. Although I know I made a great discovery today in the vehicle.img and mission script(perhaps JD or Evil can help solve this one). In summary of my testing I found that changing the vehicle.ide causes the game to freeze @ the Dardan mission and today the vehicle.img and the script confusion freezing the Ruff Rider mission. I am just glad that no problems have been caused by ps3.rpf modding, which is what I have been centering my work on lately (DDS development).

In my never ending quest to make GTA IV cooler n sexier, I worked on nude strippers today. With some success, it is like Niko's beard though. Getting close to stripper 1 nudeness appears, backing up it disappears. Flash effect kinda cool. Could upload it, if any one is interested... lol

OK here goes...

firstly thank you for the compliment nativesith, but I cant upload my own loading screens as they have my full name (amongst other things ) on them.

I have however made some for everyone to use, I liked the artwork screens so I have kept most of them in (aswell as some new one's)

Also it might just be my TV but i noticed all the screens were overscaled
they looked zoomed in and blurry

after playing around i found that if you make a transparant image at 1024x1024, then resize the image you want to use at 935x935
then paste it in the center of the transparant image, it looks sharp and clear

I have written my own loadingscreens_ps3 file
it puts the long black screen pause after screen 2 at the beginning (for a more seamless look)

PM me son and I sent a message to a Moderator so you should be able to post soon. I was going to do 3_1 also lol! Save the files from the biggest image possible that is honestly why I did not do 6_1, since I could not get a nice display.

I will remind 'em. Week left to vote. Please vote for the GTA IV team! Go to our front page stories and click like. Bought a capture device and a Cobra usb (GTA : SA modding?), so I will be able to take some good shots and videos.
I am also working on something for a weekend release.=)

The Empire Strikes Back! The Hud design is hard to look away from! It has a half transparent red center giving the map in hud a redish color(rather than the black n white of old). Also with full transparent Scratches and mud/grime. Hud was done with Paint.net and the transparencies with Photoshop
If someone would takes pics and show 'em off here I would be delighted.
Now, the scratches... one could sometimes see tears in the car bodies. Ram something in a car and see the warped car without scratches.

DDS... I started my own dds paint job for the police stinger. It has my avatar with psx scene on front n back of the car.
Wanna put flames or tribal on the sides. Will put up a video when it is done .
