It seems like the image gets not only expanded horizontally, but also slightly cropped to the top and the bottom. Is it supposed to be like that?
(I remember that the built-in widescreen modes of GoWI and GoWII are different as well, the first one being "vert-" and the second one something between "vert-" and "hor+" ...)

it is the hack for the sceVu0ViewScreenMatrix function

that's why HG's hack works for many games

^ I'm unclear on how you managed to find it, wasn't it unlabeled? I can't see it in any of the elfs in ps2dis..but my knowledge of assembly is zero
