    PS2 PS2 Widescreen Hack (Codebreaker and ps2rd Codes Only) – 05-07-2012,07:00 AM
    Lately on PCSX2 forums widescreen hacks for playstation 2 games started to emerge.

    They are done by built-in game cheat option of pcsx2.

    A user on that thread implied it can be done on real ps2 too.

    Found one four you but only works on 3d not radar and tested

    Tested and nice filtering of game still works makes it look good

    This looks fairly easy to follow, does that mastercode work for all games on 9.3 HDLoader version?

    I only know the ones I put the boot ELF for you could try it on different region but very unlikely to work for those thou

    Nearly every game has different master codes for different regions. You have to google the game id to find the raw master code. If the master code you have found is Codebreaker (or let's assume you are using the built-in cheat database of codebreaker) you have to convert the widescreen hack raw codes to codebreaker 7+ codes. Omniconvert can do this.

    But it is better if you can find the raw master code to avoid this process.

    Thanks for the new games. Waiting for more. Who knows maybe someone can find a pattern and a general 16:9 hack can be found like on N64 emulators.

    Wow!

    I searched something like this some months ago after seeing that the dreamcast emulator nullDC has an option called "Extra Geom" to get widescreen for 4:3 games. I found the FFX patch but the devs at the PCSX2 forum wrote that it won't be possible for other games. And now they already compiled a nice list of games which can be forced to 16:9!

    Besides, it doesn't seem like all these games are using the same game engine, so this hack might be possible for many other PS2 games as well, doesn't it?

    You are welcome.

    It all began with FFX. And then some more square games and after that games from other companies have been found out to include these codes too. Mostly games which are rendered fully in 3d look good with this hack.

    There might even be an internal resolution setting too (opposed to an aspect ratio setting in this case), but i don't know what to search for unfortunately.

    I've searched for master codes on Google, but nothing comes up. For example, I searched "slus 20228 master code" for Silent Hill 2 and nothing came up about it.
    I'm no noob, I just don't post much :P
