    Hi All,

I have a slim PS2 (SCPH-90001) chipped with Modbo 4.0 (Infinity Matrix 1.93 bios). PS2 backups (SL and DL) play w/o issues even when I burn them at max speed. But the PSX backups (I have Immation CD-R spindle where the min speed 8x only) do not play, it seems the PS2 does not spin the CD-R, or spins it a bit then hangs giving strange clicks sound! Luckily, I do have a very old PSX backup that I made for my nephew like 10 years ago! It still plays without issues (old CD-R media and perhaps it was written at a very slow speed)! I tried burning the discs at 8X yet that did not help... CD-R media with 1-2x speed do not exist so I am not sure what to do! What options do I have? I am not willing to tweak the laser since I am sure it will affect it on the long run, and I did read about playing backups off USB but I am not sure if that is for PS2 only or PSX is also supported!

    Thnx for the help,

You talk about FMCB (Free McBoot) and PS2PSXe (PSX-emu)
PSX is not full supported with USB, PS2PSXe play iso´s, but without sound and not all games work.

Have you tried booting your PS2 while holding the O button on the controller? That should force the Modbo chip into reading the disc as a PS1 game.

    Indeed!
If the auto-detection doesn't work, the disc-type-forcing might work...

But this still normally indicates read-issues, when those other discs can be booted normally.
