Yes, I missed it. I only read it before you edit the reply. That is why sometimes I rather just create a new reply, when I know that the person I am replying to is still online--so he doesn't miss my new edit..

The Pong ghosting isn't like real ghosting, it is like when the Atari sign spins around on the loading screen (the sign is 3D), the frame stays there and it causes stuff to look really f'd up. For example, if a square flies across the screen, it will turn out to a line cause the frame stays there I guess. Is there any way to screenshot it?
You should see the Ace Combat 3 game I reported above. Damn plane is flying and missing some parts.. Sometimes it's missing the wings, hell I don't know how it's flying! lol

Screenshots: Yes, according to the info I copied from ffgriever in the tutorial I am building, he mentions the combo to create a screenshot. Here is the quote:

Use (L1+L2+R1+R2+triangle+circle) to save screenshot in "snap/" directory - always using executable (slesxxxxx) with counter (always checking for files that are already there, so it doesn't overwrite files if used in multiple sessions). Screenshots are saved in tim2 format.
The Ridge Racer Revolution didn't work even with the different settings, thanks for the suggestions though
Yeah, was worth a shot. Thanks.

You should try scph7502.bin bios. ffgriever recommends that one. I think because that was the very last update bios for the PS2 consoles. And it might have bugs fixed that the prior bios didn't have. I think it has nothing to do with trying to match your console's bios, since the emulator can use anyone you select in the bios menu in the GUI version--I have all of them inside that folder and I just bench test each one to see which one works best for troubled games--and discovered that scph7502.bin is the best for mine--and I have a Phat model. Be sure to save your configuration so it always loads that bios for all your games. I think the bios you are currently using is just way too old.

As for XA Sound, r198 didn't have that enabled yet. I don't know if you tried testing any of your games with r202, but if you did, you should have encountered that annoying stuttering sound, like a bunch of repeating noises that would never stop until you would hard boot the PS2. ffgriever said that he didn't fix it with r202 and he acknowledges that its a problem with that version with the annoying stuttering sounds. He also mentioned that he had actually updated this emulator to r209, but that one never made it to public release---damn!!

Yeah, I actually used r202 a couple months ago when I heard that... I'll try to use SCPH7502 if I can, so you are saying that maybe some bugs will get out if I use the newer BIOS?

Anyways, got some new tests. All were done from the past couple hours on USB, my Slim SCPH75001 with the SCPH1001 PS1 BIOS (for now at least):

    Dino Crisis
    SLUS_900.66
    NTSC
Notes: Opening FMV with helicopter doesn't work but you can skip through it. No talking from any of the characters. Runs at almost 60fps in some locations but less when more characters are on screen. Few textures in some rooms are glitched.

    Parasite Eve
    SLUS_006.62 - Disc 1; SLUS_006.68 - Disc 2
    NTSC
Notes: No sound in FMVs i.e. car noises but music still works. Maintains a constant 60fps with no slowdowns. Very playable. Needs SPU IQR enabled for proper sound.

    Parasite Eve 2
    SLUS_010.42 - Disc 1; SLUS_010.55 - Disc 2
    NTSC
    Notes: Hangs on Squaresoft image.

    Silent Hill
    SLUS_007.07
    NTSC
Notes: No sound in FMVs. Transparent white boxes around characters and trees. The boxes are gone when in the dark/Otherworld/Hell. Lags heavily when various things are happening on screen, like snowing or the flashlight in general. Not very playable in some spots, but playable in others.

    Toy Story Racer
    SLUS_012.14
    NTSC
Notes: Very bad graphical glitches, such as the same one in Pong. Fps drops to about half speed. Not very playable.

    Final Fantasy VII
    SCUS_941.63 - Disc 1; SCUS_941.64 - Disc 2; SCUS_941.65 - Disc 3
    NTSC
Notes: Some flickering at screen border. No sound at FMVs i.e. Aeris walking but music still works. FMVs also get out of sync with audio. No battle swirl, fps drops some when the battle swirl is supposed to be displayed. Very playable, maintains a constant 60fps. SPU IQR required for proper sound.

    Final Fantasy VIII
    SLUS_008.92 - Disc 1; SLUS_009.08 - Disc 2; SLUS_009.09 - Disc 3; SLUS_009.10 - Disc 4
    NTSC
Notes: FMVs have some half-second stutters, music glitched up at last half of opening FMV. Ingame works very nice and maintains a good amount fps. FPS drops more when a lot of characters are on screen or on the world map. Very playable.

Have fun putting this on the list.

I can confirm the same issue. I tested on USB, and had the same issue as you.

I then tested on Network and I can get passed the logo, but when I then select to play the game, the menu and the game keep flashing on and off non-stop. Makes it impossible to play the game. I tried all settings I can think of and the problem still persists.

What does have me curious is why on USB I can't get passed the Logo, but with Network, I can. Weird?

Yes, that is my goal with the newer bios. It is actually what ffgriever said, that he had tested other ones and determined that this bios was the best and make the games less buggy.

I had to guess if the game was a YES or a NO. So I read your notes and made a general guess. Be sure to preview my update above to make sure I guess it right.

Shoot, forgot to add the comptibilty... I'll check if you got them right.

And that is wierd that it works on Network, or at least gets past the logo. This might be completely unrelated, but earlier this year I had tried RRR on the SSSPSX emulator and it did the same, hung on the Namco logo. I have no idea why it relates to this enulator though...

Everything is right but technically Toy Story Racer is playable but it's really, REALLY glitched.

I wonder if this is related?

I opened the IMG of RidgeRacerRevolution with IsoBuster and noticed that there is a exe file inside the archive "RIDGE.EXE". My first question is why is it an EXE? Did the original PSX console have a way to extract that EXE into memory to be able to execute whatever its inside there? Secondly, I noticed that in the codes for Network that ffgriever listed for us (which are found at the very bottom list of the tutorial I've been working on (see the sticky section), there is a network command--see quote below...

    -exepath=PATH
Launches PSX exe file (for intros, demos and such).
So in Network I guess I can run that path, and though I haven't tried it yet, it might be the missing link to make the game playable? The other game I have that also has an EXE file inside the archive is Ace Combat 3 [ACE.EXE] and that's the one I report above about the plane missing some visual parts during game play. Hmm?

I don't think that I can execute this command with the GUI version. I will test this tomorrow, I am so tired now, my eyes keep closing on me while I am typing this! -- Thank god for spell check!! Or else I would be creating a new language!

Lol, but yeah PSX used .EXEs, PSX homebrew are also .EXEs. They are what .ELFs are to PS2 pretty much, I guess RRR uses the .EXE after the Namco logo, that's why it couldn't load on USB. I actually remember hearing that from somewhere but I must've totally forgot...

Unrelated, but I think the Parasite Eve 2 crash is a totally different thing though because AFAIK it doesn't use .EXEs in the image and most emulators have some sort of fix in the options, like PCSXR has one. But also IIRC, the game works with the interpreter core so is there any way to unlock the option on PS2PSXe? I would think it would run that slow because it just uses prerendered images like RE.
