Hi, I'm trying to find a way of playing PSX games using freemcboot and/or a another homebrew program.

I've tried PSXLauncher.elf and I can only get it to load when I select it from my usb stick which doesn't work as the game isn't spinning. I think it says "No disk inserted" or something similar.

I've tried setting PSXLauncher.elf to a button when FMCB starts up but it just boot loops freemcboot and doesn't even load the program.

I've tried using cogswap, although it recognises the psx disk, it just spins and never tells me to swap the disk.

I've tried using the swap trick but I can't get to the ps2 browser where it shows the disk with the memory cards as I have a soft modded slim ps2, and it always thinks the lid is closed.

If anyone can point me in the right direction it would be appreciated.

    PS2 Information:

    Silver Slim
    Model: SCPH-75003
    Free MCBoot v1.8

    Thanks.

Personally, Just use the uLanch.ELF swap trick. Has always worked for me.
Make sure Disc Control is turned ON in uLaunch.ELF settings.
Also, map MISC/PS2Browser to a button on the uLaunch.ELF home screen.

Put in a PS1 disc, launch uLaunch.ELF, swap the disc, press your button mapped to PS2Browser, launch game.

Is it a backup or original PS1 game?

From what I know, if is a backup PS1 game, the only way to run it on a PS2 console is by using a modchip.

    Thats not correct....

You can play backups on PS2 (FAT & SLIM) with the SWAP-Trick. But in the SLIM-version is it easier, cause you can make the "sensor-mod" to let the case opened, and with the Disc-control is it easy without damaging anything to "SWAP" the Discs how "Serberus" it writes......

    thanks for the replies.

I have already tried to do the ulaunch swap trick but when i try and save the settings it says 'no disc' to start with and if i then go back into the configure menu and select ok again it says 'failed writing launchelf.cnf'

launchelf.elf is on my memory card in the sys-conf folder which is in the root of my memory card.

    any ideas?

Why you put first a PSX-CD in to save???

If you put a retail PSX-game in, start your PS2 and press the "R1" button to launch uLE.
If uLE comes up and your CD stops spinning, then its all OK, you dont have to save anything, just swap the CD, go in uLE to "MISC" and press "PS2Disc". Then the game must start.....

And if your CD dont stop spinning after uLE comes up, then shutdown your PS2, take the CD off, start your PS2, press "R1" to launch uLE, press "select" to configure uLE, set the "Disccontrol" to "ON" and go down and press "OK" (not "cancel"). It saves automaticly.....

Thats it you dont have to save something.......

Now you can make the swap-trick......

    "

Thanks but it's still not working.

I put in a retail psx disk (GTA 2), I started the PS2, I pressed the R1 button and uLE launched.
The disk was still spinning so I shut down the ps2, took the disk out, restarted the Ps2 and held R1 to go back into uLE.
I set disk control to "ON" and pressed "OK" and a message appeared at the top saying "No Disk!"
I restarted the PS2 an went back to uLE, pressed select to go back to the configuation screen and Disk control was still set to "OFF", meaning it never saved automatically!

I also tried setting disk control to "ON", which stopped the disk spinning, I swapped disks without restarting the ps2 and it just showed me a black screen

EDIT: I just noticed that my Launchelf.cnf is 0 Bytes big! I will try replacing it and see what happens.
EDIT 2: Got the config to finally save. It turns out that i had insufficient space on my memory card to save the config file......

Thanks for all the help guys!
