    Hi there

I got my final fantasy IX there, but cd2 is ****ed up because of the using. It does no longer loads and when it loads, it breaks.

Is there a way of clonning my friends CD, and use it with ESR ? And with Swap magic ?

    Cheers ppl

The only ways to play a backup of a PS1-Game on a PS2 are these,...

    PS2 V7/CC1.0 (FW:34 hacked v2 BM:2.1.6); Maxtor DiamondMAX9 PLUS 160GB
    PS2 SCPH-30004R; NoMod+NoLaser

There's a fourth way, using PS1 codebreaker which works like swapmagic, an original-looking PS1 game which is able, once swapped to the backup, to launch the main executable. But I'm not sure it is still easy to find one nowadays.

I got the swap magic for ps1 games also, only thing I dont know if it works is :

I can play with original cd1, fine, but then, mid game, it asks to change for cd2. So if I change right away, it might bug out (since its not original).

Where can I know more about :
    -PS2PSXe Public Preview (2)
    -Disc-Swapping (+V9) ?

    Cheers for help

That will never happen with any of the Final Fantasy games released for the PS1.

FF7, FF8 and FF9 all handle disc changes by allowing the user to save game at end of one disc and then reboot with the next disc and restart the game by loading that last gamesave made using the previous disc.

Presumably you can then use your SwapMagic methods for the booting of each backup disc, since the change is never demanded in the middle of gameplay, but always done such that a new reboot will work just as well.

The only 'Square' RPG I know of which for sure demands an in-game disc replacement is the two-disc game "Chrono Cross" (CD1==SLUS_010.41, CD2==SLUS_010.80). So at present that game can not be played past the disc-switching point using PS2PSXe. (The current implementation has NO support for ingame disc image switching.)

Where can I know more about :
    -PS2PSXe Public Preview (2)
PS2PSXe has two threads of its own inside this ESR subforum, since both ESR and PS2PSXe were created by the same author (ffgriever). These threads and ffgriever himself are the main sources for information on this emulator.

    -Disc-Swapping (+V9) ?
Someone else will have to help you with that, as such disc-swapping is something I refuse to do. (I prefer a long life for my CDVD drives.)

    Best regards: dlanor

Look for Breaker Pro, it's a boot CD, but works wonders! I use it to run my Psx backups since I toasted the SX point on my CC, <.<

This last post made me reread my own, and I was of course talking about breaker pro and not codebreaker, which doesn't have anything to do with swapping.
