it's designed for ps2 games, and that kind of loading mechanism won't work with ps1 games.

it requires a different approach. maybe someday we'll have the ps1 support integrated into OPL, but that's unlikely.
    Maybe one day...

no, never. ps2 can't run ps1 native code when ps2 software is loaded into memory. this is why you should use an EMULATOR.

Emulators suck, I've never found a good one.
That's why backwards compatable systems with original hardware are ALWAYS better.

EDIT: not sure if you're including the homebrew when you say "emulator" or not.
(as fmcb, and related software, is pretty awesome)
I was just talking about the emulators that run on PCs.
(I've never found an emulter for the ps2 that worked on my computer) >.<

okay, i'm confused now. why the FOOCK would you use a ps2 emulator ON A PC to play PSX games on it? my previous answer was directed to a PS2 console running a PSX emulator, such as PS2PSXe, i've never even named a PC.

oh, and stop getting it on on this subject, i will be pretty clear

IF PS2PSXe (or any other psx emu un ps2) IS NEVER FINISHED YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO RUN PSX GAMES OFF A HARD DRIVE, USB STICK, OR WHATEVER ON YOUR PS2. NEVER EVER.

PS: homebrew is homebrew, it's software designed to run natively on X hardware, but done without dev kits and of course not official. an emulator EMULATES a system in order to be able to run software on ANOTHER system that wasn't designed to run that code in the first place, or to better support new hardware on these older systems.

I was just unsure whether we were putting "homebrew" in the "emulator" catagory.
(as both get a system to do something that it normally doesn't through either...
...making it do something new, or giving it a new way to do something it already can)

So I was simply specifying that when I said "emulators suck"
that I wasn't taking about "homebrew" (FMCB and it's programs)

And no, I would NOT try to use a PS2 emulator on the PC to run PS1.

My confusion was that I thought the PSXe program was a PC emulator.
So you, talking about it ON a PS2, is what I couldn't figure out.

OK, so WILL "PS2PSXe" ever be finished ???
Because I downloaded the last version, and didn't know what the "FOOCK" to do with all the "seemingly" useless files. As there were NO instructions on where to put them or how to use them.

(and you don't have to get snippy - I too have had to deal with people that didn't quite get stuff that I thought was very simple)
(remember - you catch more flies with honey then vinegar)
