Issues getting Final Fantasy X to fill TV
Issues getting Final Fantasy X to fill TV –
01-07-2013,04:31 AM
I have a PAL Fat PS2 with FreeMcBoot 1.8 installed. I have a launch version FFX NTSC disc, which i've installed with HDLoader 0.8c.
With 4:3 selected in the System Configuration, loading up HDLoader, the screen is filled top to bottom. Similarly when I load other games, I get fullscreen (4:3). But when I load FFX the game aligns to the top of the screen but the image only comes down around 60% of the display's height, with the rest of the space filled with black. The game boots up in 576i which is strange.
That happens with my TV's "Normal" mode. Zoom etc modes make it look worse and the majority of them cut the top of the image off. I thought I'd try GSM to try and force 480i, but i'm not having any luck - HDLoader will load in 480i, but Final Fantasy X still insists on loading at 576i with the issue above. Launching in higher resolutions gives me no image (but I can hear the game running).
Does anyone have any ideas on what I can do? I was thinking of trying ps2force480p, but it's a huge hassle to transfer the image back and forth with my current computer setup, and afaik the game doesn't work in 480p anyway. It really seems to be a FFX issue because it doesn't happen with my other games.
Please help
Cheers
edit: unfortunately I can't post images because I haven't posted 30 posts in the forum, so you'll have to bear with the explanation i've added in.

Try 480p in GSM it works for me for FFX and the game itself should have a slight black at top and bottom of screen anyway Square did it probably to improve fps
but I use OPL and it runs fine in 480p
Just to let you know this forces with this game real 4:3 ratio so you will have black on right and left sides if you are using wide screen TV
Just wondering why you are even playing the US version it has less then the PAL version BTW and international has even more
or is it international version
about post you only need 10 and a little while after you will be able to post links dang admins fix that please how many times have I said that now lost count

Pretty sure I tried this, can't remember the result though, will do it again tonight.

It's the one we own. A lot of negative talk around about the PAL version, should I look into getting International? The main problem is my wife is playing the game, she's about 3 hours in, and starting again probably isn't an option (she has a short fuse for games). If I can get my NTSC save into International, now we're talking

The best and less bugs is japan international version and it has English voice overs and subtitles built into it
their may be a way but I have not found to carry over saves from USA to international
