Problem Solved –
Found out using the RTE SBIOS, disabling TGE for new modules and setting defaults for RTE SBIOS allows me to boot with no pink.
It seems even the V7s with their lack of need for RTE SBIOS, require it to run component video properly, allowing us use of the dtv switches. Currently testing as dvt0 (480p iirc) and will be testing my native 720p after my boot is finished. 480 is slightly oversized on my screen, so futher adjustments will be required, but its a start, no pink is by far a huge step, aligning the picture is a smaller perfectionist step.
Do note that issues come up from using the RTE SBIOS, the controller not working for mouse (usb mouse works, usb keyboard works).
So for those following in my footsteps, to run component video on a HDTV (or SDTV if you have component in) you NEED:
RTE SBIOS from disc 1 of the sony linux kit
Disable TGE SBIOS (uses RTE SBIOS from mc instead)
Disable TGE for New Modules
Set default configuration for RTE SBIOS
Tested on a V7 console, more testing on other versions possibly under way.
Edit, Mega Man actually chimed in on my old thread at ps2dev, and mentioned doing exactly what I did. Guess I coulda just waited and been handed the info to fix it, oh well.
