I can't seem to find this in the thread... how do I actually change video modes in the new GSM? I press start and it says "Choose What You Want!"
the vga input cable of my monitor seems to be permanently attached as designed. there is only one end... a male end...
thank you for sharing

Using GSM to force a PAL game into PAL mode may seem absurd, but if I remember correctly someone was using GSM to recenter the screen of games that don't offer screen positioning themselves.
I think the "Choose What You Want!" screen is displayed when you try leaving GSM 0.36 without having chosen an exit method/destination. Unlike previous versions video modes are only activated upon exiting GSM.
Regards!
Hello everyone.
Im a little confused so i have some quiestions:
What I need to connect my PS2 to my syncmaster 2233sn+ monitor? is a Sync on Green monitor
if i connect the PS2 to the monitor wich mode in the configuration on the ps2 is needed? RGB/YPbPr?
if all the above is configured correctly can view the ps2 menu directly in the monitor without launching gsm?
thanks in advance.
All you need is something like that:

RGB.
No.
You have to use either GSM or other similar software/method in order to enable HD video modes on the PS2.
[ ]'s.
confirming that gradius v does indeed work beautifully 480p... both pal and us versions.... but you have to hit start REALLY REALLY fast after the two white konami screens to avoid the intro fmv or it crashes immediately. also dont leave the game sit at the main menu for too long or it will eventually run the white konami screen again then crash.
so (first select 60hz if you are using pal version. then....) hurry up and press start as the game is starting (just after the 2 konami screens tap like craaaaazy)... then hurry up and enter an options menu if you're going to leave the game sit for any amount of time. or just start a game then pause it and you're good.
just dont leave it sit at the main menu for ~5-10 minutes
this includes esr dvd version. my drive didn't seem to want to read my original cd at all. but the esr dvd has the very same crash after the 2 konami screens. probably remedied also by tapping furiously
this game is absolutely glorious in 480p! stunning! breath taking even!!! drop dead gorgeous!!!!! down right fantastic!!!!!!. graphics remind me somewhat of border down... only better explosions

nope... you will need to use your tv to get into gsm... switch to a vga mode... then hook up your vga cable...
there's a semi easy way to set it up so you can just press a few buttons and be able to (blindly) activate your desired mode. i haven't gotten that exactly figured out yet
btw i recognize your name from other forums. you may know me as frenchfries or rock&rollfrenchfries
Thunder Force 6 (NTSC-J) 480p works perfectly
GOF OF WAR (NTSC-U) forcing to 480p does not work properly... shrunken screen until you activate progressive scan in the game's options menu.
BUT then while you're playing the game. the screen (mostly the bottom half) flickers horribly while your doing big combos and slashing mutha*****s.
screen does not flicker if you do not use GSM but just choose progressive scan in the game options THEN connect your monitor.
BTW. I found a monitor in my garage thats much nicer than the one ive been using. It supports SOG. I have also discovered that the monitor shows 480p just fine. and it seems to look better than 640x480 vga mode. just use 480p instead of 640x480

Hi guys,i'm another noob with GSM.
I just tested GSM and i had various results.
To run the software i use an old PS2,HDD,Ule,GSM & HDloader.
to read the signal i use a componant cable,(pieces to adapt to VGA cable, but unssuccesfully for now) and a samsung LCD TV.
The best results i had so far is with 1080i settings on GSM with the componant cable alone.
Some game are really beautiful with that setting (best result with racing games so far, like NFS : hot poursuit 2.)
The main problems are:
*most of the times, the image is smaller so it does not fit on the boards of the television.I don't know if there's a way to adjust that with settings on GSM software, and how to do that...
*Some games don't work well:graphic gliches and bugs or the image is doubled vertically (old games like "Zone of the enders" or "GT3" if i remember well)
The worst thing is when i choose a VGA setting on GSM,my TV lost signal (wich is normal cause i use only the componant cable alone),so at this moment i plug the adaptators pieces then plug the VGA cable into the TV...then i choose the VGA source on the TV-command,and the ******* TV always says NO SIGNAL DETECTED,CHECK CABLES :'{
Maybe the problem is just that the audio is not plugged-in (how i am supposed to plug these two audio RCAs into this 'one' audio input?)
Maybe it's this sync on green compatibility issue? (Anyway you can plug a PC directly with the VGA input on this particular TV)
So is there a way for me to have the benefit of GSM's VGA mode with this TV (maybe a HDMI or DVI adaptor??
Thanks. (And thank you very much for the GSM program and all the work)
start your ps2 up... go into the system configuration... change your component settings.
but then you might me blind until you actually activate a vga mode and make the vga connection... so...
use regular old yellow rca to see what you're doing until you activate vga. honestly tho. dont even worry about the vga modes. the only ones that work right are 640x480@60hz and 1260x1024@60hz.
and 640x480 seems to look a tad worse than 480p. so just stick with hd modes pretty much
