because i dont have an hdtv... if i did have an hdtv i would simply use component cables and nothing else... what i have is a VGA monitor. that thing has no vga output. only hdmi.

that thing you are showing me is absolutely useless and unnecessary for any ps2 usage.

    more 480p testing

Sky Odyssey - SLUS 20134.. black screen

Gradius V - SLUS 20712. A couple title screens then black screen. exactly like neo contra. konami games dont like being bossed around

Nights Into Dreams - SLPM 66926... typical sega game with the screen shrunk a tad. still looks great.

Capcom vs Snk 2 - PBPX 95201. black screen

Mercury Meltdown Remix - SLUS 21548... looks beautiful. no added blockyness... but runs double speed

Psychonauts - SLUS 21128. PERFECT!!!. no added blockiness. looks and plays exactly as it should. just some occasional sync tearing which is a known flaw with ps2 psychonauts.

Battle Gear 2 - SLPM 62048. black screen

Touge 3 - SLPM 62087... works but with added blockiness just like GT3 and REZ (and with this game it looks horrible) also the menu music plays at mega hyper speed.

ive tried a couple of these in vga 640x480 with the same results.

using version 23x as version 36 doesnt work for me for some reason.

    tested using OPL 0.8 SMB-USB

    @flahrgenstow & yassinePSX:

After speaking to doctorxyz I took over the PS2 compatibility list from DarkChrono666 and I updated it with your recent contributions.

    Here's the new link:

    https://spreadsheets.google.com/spre...pYX3c&hl=en_US

If you want to contribute further test results you can also use this form:

    https://spreadsheets.google.com/spre...N3A2RFJfLXc6MQ

Please don't use DarkChrono666's old one since those results won't reach me!

    Regards!

P.S. @flahrgenstow: I own the PAL version of Gradius V. If I hammer 'Start' at the beginning the game skips past the Opening movie and the game is playable in 480p.
Maybe you'd like to try that.

Useless its not a greay reply....if you use a component cable on an hdtv you can see all the ps2 games too much pixellated, with LKV351 VGA / Component Video + 3.5mm Audio to HDMI LENKENG Upscaler on HDMI this problem is reduced a lot so this one is not so useless as you said before.....Bye.

what method are you using to play gradius V?

    opl?
    esr?

what version..and/or over which connection type? (usb? smb? internal hd? esr disc? original disc?

I ripped my gradius V iso from an original disc (which is a CD, not the dvd image thats floating around on the net... thats a user made dvd image) using imgburn. then installed it using usbutil2.0 and am using with opl 0.8 over smb...

game works with opl 0.8 via smb... but not when using GSM in 480p... im about to check using just usb and not thru smb

nope... same crash for me... just after the first two white konami title screens (why ever they need one right after the other saying basically the same thing). nothing but black. and yes i am rapidly tapping x but it doesn't even get to the opening fmv at all.

what version gradius v are you using?

(btw all my games are defragged... i just switched over to the smb thing recently)

    ok so...

it works for me using PS2ESDL, not opl 0.8

so we can perhaps mark it as working... perfectly. graphics look beautiful.

on that note. perhaps my games listed as not working in the last few posts should be stricken from the list since i am usually too lazy to go and look for the original disc and am always using a loader. though i would assume the stuff that shows up blocky or with speed issues to be the same.

    sorry about that.

we love katamari (SLUS)... shrunken screen like a sega game. gives your katamari a slightly "fisheyed" look. potentially headache inducing

so i just received exactly this

    http://psx-scene.com/forums/attachme...ent-adaper.jpg

and the female to female vga coupler...

and it doesn't work with my monitor at all. i set my ps2 to rgb. i went to GSM and tried both vga 640x480 and 1024x768 (@60hz)... doesn't even take the monitor out of sleep mode...

could that be the sync on green issue? i thought that it would work but maybe be greenish.

    Why ?

All normal VGA monitors have a female VGA input connector, so the male VGA connector shown in the picture should plug straight into it.
Are you sure that the 'input' connector you're using really is a proper input, and not a buffered output for a secondary display... ?
(Some few monitors do have such outputs.)

and it doesn't work with my monitor at all. i set my ps2 to rgb. i went to GSM and tried both vga 640x480 and 1024x768 (@60hz)... doesn't even take the monitor out of sleep mode...
I'm afraid this means that your monitor simply isn't compatible with the signals, unless it has some 'SOG' setting somewhere that you still haven't tried.

could that be the sync on green issue?
That is most likely the case. (Assuming you are using a proper input for that monitor.)

i thought that it would work but maybe be greenish.
No, it doesn't work that way.

Sync-On-Green (aka: "SOG") means that the signal lead for the analog green color signal also contains both horizontal and vertical sync pulses, inside the horizontal and vertical sync intervals of the signal, during which no analog color information is needed, so that no conflict exists between having these signals in the same physical lead.

A SOG-capable monitor will expect this kind of input and will separate the sync pulses (if present) from the green signal and will then use these to syncronize the picture, and traditionally it is also the recognition of sync pulses which brings any monitor out of sleep mode.

But a monitor which is not SOG-capable will never do any of this, as it demands that it get the horizontal and vertical sync pulses on two other input pins.
With such a monitor there is no way around this, other than getting an adapter that can provide those separate sync signals.

    Best regards: dlanor
