free mcboot to play PAL games onto NTSC speed?
free mcboot to play PAL games onto NTSC speed? –

I just successfully installed free mcboot on my memory card through the ARMAX route. The guides on the forums here and freemcboot.info have been nothing but great
I have one question though. What is the method to play original non copy PAL games to be played on NTSC 60hz/PAL60 speeds?
My finding ended up near elaunchelf, the settings OSDSYS within free mcboot configurator and this app called: NTSC Converter
http://www.sksapps.com/index.php?page=mis.html
Any help would be awesome.

You can use a chip or launch it via FMCB menu, or uLE.
If you want to add it to FMCB hacked OSD list read the tutorials that already exist for it.
Please read uLE documentation thread if you don't know how to use uLE.

awesome thanks for that urbigbro.
The NTSC-I option for gs mode works on the games that I just tested.
However, I am not sure whenever or not to post it here or on the gs thread but the screen is zoomed too much whatever PAL game I try. and cuts the top and bottom of the screen. I also tried the other NTSC settings and get the same result or some settings the speed is too fast.
within the gs settings you can adjust the screen to go left, right, up, down, but nothing to squish the screen. something else I missed?
Iam running this on my fat silver ps2 on a 20inch CRT non widescreen via my scart rgb.

This is an inevitable consequence of the fact that NTSC only has 448 lines per PS2 screen while PAL has 512 lines per PS2 screen. This is a major cost factor in all cross-region game production too, as lots of artwork has to be reworked. But many cheat at this, and don't bother to produce PAL game displays that fill out the screen as much as they did in an original NTSC version, instead leaving big fat black borders at top and bottom. Even so, most PAL games use more lines than it is possible to cram into an NTSC screen in a reasonable way. All we can do is to center the visible lines as well as possible.

No. That is all we can do. The scaling of GSM is only able to increase the number of destination lines per source line. The reverse is not possible. So all we can do is to magnify the screen in integral steps like, x1, x2, x3, etc. Fractions are not possible.
Theoretically it would of course be possible to rescale a picture any which way we please, but doing this in realtime with a running game is simply not possible.

GSM is not in itself dependent on any widescreen usage, but you will probably be very limited in your video mode choices by the SCART connection. I would expect only PAL and NTSC to work properly, but no HDTV or VGA modes.
