ok so lets say i do the dex conversion.... i still have me old 40 gig hdd that came with my ps3 and will be using that one to convert my unit. but my 250 gb installed into it now i dont wanna wipe. so if i use the 40 gb to get to dex can i put my 250 back in after conversion and be able to use it like before with content still in tact. if not why and on a side question will it work once i go back to cex. i hope i made my question clear.

Gonna give half the answer, as i not have a clue if you can swap back.

Use my guide if you have a NOR ps3 and all is still on the hdd after the convert.

yes. I did the same thing. I had a 1 Terabyte internal drive. Obviously I didn't want to put everything back on so I used the original 120 gig drive, formatted it for PS3 and just followed deank's guide. After I was done, I put in my old drive and installed the firmware I was on at the time to that drive and I got to keep everything without any problems.

And yes, you can go back to CEX. I went back to True Blue because I was in the middle of playing Mass Effect 3 with a bunch of DLC. Instructions on how to go back to CEX are at the very bottom of deank's guide

I can use my original 1 TB hard drive with all the original content on either CEX or DEX. The only thing you have to do is when you plug your original drive back in, boot up recovery menu and install the firmware that you last installed. If you were on a CEX firmware right before you swapped, you need to install the same CEX firmware. If you were on a DEX firmware, install the same DEX firmware
