Questions about Cex to Dex

Ok, so I am recently returning to the scene and have read a great deal of new things available. The main thing I'm most interested in, is the recent news of LAN play of backups and retail discs from MM Dex. So, I am currently still running 3.41CFW (Hermes), in order to go from Cex to DEX would I need to first update to 3.55 OFW or 3.41 OFW? Or can it be done from 3.41CFW or 3.55CFW? I think I got the jist of the conversion from this thread: http://psx-scene.com/forums/f290/dex...ackups-104770/, I just need to know the minor details such as what I mentioned. Also, is KMEAW still used as the main CFW or will I be Using Rogero's CFW? Or with the dex conversion will I be using DEX OFW? I'm sure there are a few more details I am missing. Please, any information with these questions I have will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

It has to be done on cfw, Multiman and eEID_RKDumper need peak and poke to be able to do this. When you get to DEX You'll need a 3.55DEX CFW to run most homebrew and if you wanna play new games from disk you'll need to get an updated DEX OFW like 4.20 and the downgrader to go back to 3.55.

Thanks Pink1, just what I needed to know. So any recommendations as far as a 3.55DEX CFW goes? I've read to use Rogero's but so far that's all I've come across. Is Rogereo's CFW superior to KMEAW CFW now? Has KMEAW's CFW been converted to a DEX version? I'm unsure if there are more out there. Also, going to and from 4.20 OFW to 3.55DEX CFW, is it complicated or are there any risks with the downgrade process? Forgive me for asking so much, I have read a lot of tuts I'm just here for clarification. To end this, you're saying me going to DEX from my Hermes 3.41 CFW is perfectly fine, correct? Obviously, so long as I follow instructions :P Hermes 3.41CFW has peek and poke included right? I forget lol it's been too long. Thanks in advance for whoever care to answer my questions. I use a DEX CFW I put together I think it's pretty much the same as this one from Exeedy http://psx-scene.com/forums/content/...mdfw3-55-2459/. KMEAW's hasn't been converted to DEX. I'm really not sure about Rogereo vs KMEAW I always used rebug before going to DEX. I think if you stay on 3.41 you'll wanna get the 3.41 DEX OFW to install when you flash just so you'r not trying to go from 3.41CFW to 3.55DEX. the downgrade process in DEX is as simple as installing an update even easier because you can save you'r updates to the hdd. Any CFW that you can run backups on has peek and poke, Multiman has to have it to mount the games. You'r very welcome. Let me know how it goes and if you need a hand.

Well, I am stuck trying to get my DEX dump. I keep getting a "CMAC: Fail!" error with the CEX2DEX.exe. I'm using the guide found here: http://psx-scene.com/forums/f290/dex...ackups-104770/. Any help would be appreciated. Maybe a bad dump?
