I had to format my 1TB HDD to test all this as like you both said I ran into "ERROR: Invalid output format" as well when trying to write image from BD emulator HDD Utility from an .emu created in ps3gen to image10, 11,12 etc
I didnt use Bdemupartitiontool.exe at all and still got the error you guys have mentioned. I hex edited ps3gen genelib.dll to accept 21 slots (46.6GB) and then hex edited my BDEMU 1TB hard drive to have 21 partitions. Then tried and still got error.
So as of now there's GOOD news and BAD news.
BAD news: it seems until someone figures out in genelib.dll (or elsewhere in ps3gen) to allow .emu to be written to Image 10 (with 0 image included in count to make a total of 11) and up you'll get the error regardless of program used.
GOOD news: If you use For BD Emulator HDD (direct) instead of for (*.emu) at build output, it will write to Image 10 (i even tried image 20 & 254 would write as well with direct)
(If you were the guy that only backuped your games as .emu, then just rename it .iso and extract it with mounter program, cause .emu is unencrypted .iso. Then rebuild in ps3gen to DIRECT output)
example I resized and tried on slot 15 with DIRECT output (not .emu output) game worked through XMB:

CHECK THIS OUT OH MY GOD!! hahaha i wrote to 254 (get aldos BdEmuPartitionTool 1.5.0.5 to properly detect games on high numbered partitions as i pointed out to him during testing it doesnt on previous versions, its fixed in latest version 1.5.0.5)
