So erm, received my Cobra USB a few days ago. I use it on a CECHA01 BC model.
It seems the PS3 takes longer to boot or to exit PS2 mode with this dongle, but only by a few seconds.
Tested PS1, PS2 and PS3 games. Cobra USB does indeed offer true discless support, I have 1 game that will not run without disc via app_home, but with Cobra it runs discless just fine.
As for PS2, it seems I could not be able to load modified isos, which is a letdown, unless there is some fix for it I don't know about. However, unpatched games seems to work almost flawlessly (ran into one or two bugs, but apart from that it works).
PS1 seems to work really nice aswell. There is only this known framerate issue when trying to play NTSC games on a PAL machine and vice-versa. However there is a fix for this (a bit annoying though). It involves editing the setting/system/tvdisplay value in xRegistry.sys. Set it to 1 for PAL, or to 0 for NTSC. However you might run into issues if your tv does not support both. If it doesn't, make sure upscaling is activated for PS1/PS2 when touching that file. And if you end up with a black screen, don't worry, you can still go to recovery mode and choose "Restore Default Settings" option to fix this.
I believe if you have a PAL TV, you shouldn't have issues as long as upscaling is activated and you don't do video reset (you have to restore default settings via recovery for video reset). However i cannot guarantee that this will work on NTSC TVs, since even when upscaled, the frequency stays at 50Hz for PAL, and all TVs might not support 720/1080p @ 50Hz.
I tried a modified PS1 ISO aswell, and it works fine.
That's about it for now. Overall this is a nice dongle functionality-wise, the design of the dongle itself has some flaws though (mainly the LEDs that you can't see properly).
