    A few questions for you.

    1. What game is it?

    2. What is your PS3 model number or how many USB ports does it have.

If your PS3 is one of the ones that doesn't have PS2 backwards compatibility, that may be why the game doesn't run properly. Compatibility on non-BC PS3's is poor. I've even heard of fps issues on the PS2 Classics from PSN on OFW 4.20+

Even my launch 60GB PS3 with the PS2 CPU doesn't run all PS2 games perfectly. Only ever had a problem with one game that for some reason would freeze during saving which corrupted the save file.

Since that game has been remade in HD for PS3, why don't you get the PS3 version? It would save you the headache of the PS2 version not working properly.

The problem is you have a PS3 that does not have full PS2 compatibility. You need a US launch 60GB or US launch 20GB.
