Hiya folks, I have a few questions about installing the Cobra USB package.

My PS3 has CFW kmeaw 3.55 and ive read about some Cobra/kmeaw patched CFW floating around with some weird mixed opinions.

Anyways i really like my kmeaw CFW but want to try the Cobra USB so i dunno where to start.

Can i install the Cobra CFW over the kmeaw CFW or would i have to reinstall OFW 3.55?

Is the Cobra/kmeaw patched CFW for real and does it work?

    Thanks

You probably can, but I would install OFW 3.55 then the Cobra CFW just to be safe.

It is for real, and it works.

You can find everything you need here: Cobra USB - Ultimate PS3 USB solution! - Download, but wait until you have the dongle before doing anything.

i went to cobra from kmeaw jus to play games on an external HDD, i like it better then kmeaw because cobra you can play ps2 discs on any ps3, it might be slow and laggy but it plays the games like it should. now with the new 4.0 firmware for the cobra dongle we can play more psp games on the ps3 system.....

I think you need a fat PS3 that has either full hardware backward compatibility or the software PS2 emulator for this to work. I have a PS3 with full hardware backward compatibility, and PS2 games run at full speed by the way.

You can install any CFW over any CFW without risk. In fact, it's better to not install OFW because since your PS3 stays in update process longer, and a power cut happens, you could be doomed
But, no one listens to me because I'm a noob

Also, the Kmeaw+Cobra CFW doesn't work. It doesn't boot with the dongle inserted.

    Hmm.

I have the Fat 60GB PS3 model and the Cobra dongle already.

You see, what i don't understand (and can't find out anywhere) is if with the Cobra USB in use, would that mean just all them media backups is the purpose?

With Kmeaw you have features like lv2 peek/poke, vsh/nas_plugin, (whatever that is) and install package options but What will happen to my emulators, FTP, homebrew etc etc with Cobra?

And as you can see there are mixed opinions with the Kmeaw+Cobra CFW, some say it works and others say it doesn't .

Anyways, will i loose Kmeaw features with Cobra?

I have two PS3s, one with the Cobra CFW, and one with Kmeaw. Everything I can do with Kmeaw I can do on the Cobra CFW. In addition, if I ever decided that I wanted to have Kmeaw instead, I can simply switch back via the recovery menu.

Yes, but presently the PSP compatibility is not good. Hopefully there will be an update to help this.
