Maybe I'm mistaken, but I think you guys have a major misunderstanding going on.
I've seen some instances of soulreaver using the 'BC' abbreviation as if it meant 'Backup Copy' or some similar verb for a copying operation, while the rest of you naturally use the abbreviation as normal for the PS3 context, where 'BC' stands for 'Backwards Compatible' (to PS2).
The main consequence of having a non-BC PS3 is that all PS2 support is disabled by default, and even with a Cobra device connected and its custom firmware running, you also need to activate its PS2 support (as mentioned briefly in a previous post). Otherwise no PS2 games will launch.
As for exactly which models may have native PS2 support (aka: the BC PS3 models), I'm not really sure exactly which they are except that they are all 'fat' models, and have been out of production for several years. So any newly store-bought model will definitely be non-BC, as will any 'slim' model regardless of age.

thanks dlanor always a big help, I've just looked up the model (CECHC04) and seeing it was the last of the 60GB models it was not HW (hardware) BC (backwards compatible) but SW (software) now that brings your answer as it was not fully PS2 BC

i checked final fantasy X and XII that i have the original disks.....put them in my ps3 and they played just fine through multiman.....!!!
anyway.....what should i do with the ps2 games that i have in my ext disk as isos.....???is there a way that i can play them??
yesterday i managed to load and play final fantasy x from /dev_hddo/PS2iso folder and when i chose it and exit multiman it appeared a "gold ps2 icon" and it ran smoothly...!!
but when i did the same job for yakuza 2...it appeared a "blue ps2 icon" instead of a "gold" one and that one didn't play.....do you know why???
To make it Clear........
There was NO issue with my Cobra Usb......it works great with CECHC models......!!!
It is actually Amazing and a WorthBuying Dongle....!!
i figured out that i had some problems with my ext usb storage disk.....that i solved!!
Conclusion: Buy it and you Won't Regret it.......at all!!!
