Gotta be honest and say it's getting old seeing every TrueBlue patch thread get bogged down with debates over whether or not the TrueBlue team or Team PARADOX are destroying the scene or contributing to it.

    One side of the debate:

We get to play new games
It's only $60 - about the price of 1 new game
There comes a time in every scene when you have to shell out a few bucks.
It will eventually become open source but for now this is the only option for playing new games outside of dual booting or owning 2 consoles

    On the other side:

The scene is meant to be open source
Most devs charge nothing for their work and it should stay that way
True Blue wouldn't be possible without the hard work of many that came before them that charged nothing for their work
Getting paid for piracy is not only illegal but immoral
Exchanging one DRM for another and charging for a dongle is pure greed

ATTN: moderators - please sticky this topic so the debate can rage on without taking away from other topics

ATTN: everyone - If I forgot anything post it in the following format and I will update it for the next week or so until it stands on it's own:

    @BahumatLord - "opinion" - love/hate tb - username

example - @BahumatLord - I think what they're doing is wrong, but I know that they should be paid for their work - love tb - username

The scene whole downfall been to open-source and shared information true blue stands strong because they care about their product and hence nobody fully cracked it yet. Not all Devs work for free.

This isnt about the money this is all about Quality Service.

Remember there is Free Service and Quality Service and at the end of the day Quality beats free service why isnt there a free solution yet? True blue didn't kill the scene all the good devs were sued and the others just left or gave up.

I'd love to get a True Blue but I have no desire to install a limited DRM filled CFW and have to switch back and forth between my current CFW and True Blue's.

DRM is bad, I just hope someone breaks True Blue's.

And why do you feel you need to switch? reaCTPSN works, 3.55 games and below works, apps and emulators work. Only reason to switch is to go from TB to Cobra which I do easily and pain free by using debug update settings. It takes 3 minutes to go from one CFW to the other no flasher and no need for recovery menu. Best of all it disables online updates so no one could ever update on accident. I can go to and FW in under 3 minutes right form the XMB. So that doesn't hold water. Lets look back

    PS1 bought a modchip
n64 bought a copier then got a flash cart
    ps2 bought a modchip
    xbox bought a modchip
    360 bought a cool runner
    Saturn bought a modchip
Tubro Grafx bought hardware for region bypass and bought flash cart
    Wii bought a modchip
    Genesis bought flash cart
    snes bought flash cart

See anything that is constant? Hardware needed to hack the devices and without them the softmods that came after the hard mods were around would have never surfaced. Every since there was protection we have needed outside devices to circumvent them, what is the difference with TB? Don't like it just wait and STFU while doing it we get it TB is evil but without them you aren't going to see any new developments in this stagnant scene.

I think you misunderstand how it works and atreyu187 is right. There is no need to switch once you install it. Everything you have now will still work. I think what you've heard about swapping is for people who own both True Blue and Cobra dongles. Each one currently needs it's own firmware

I hope the True Blue doesn't get cracked because we'll stop getting eboots from them, not only because they wont want to release them but if it gets cracked and we know how they're doing it then sony can probably block new releases from working

Oh that would be very sad. I could enter in a depression state. . Better not even to whisper that. Hope sony will never find out TB. I am still wishing Last Guardian to be patched after its launched.

I have the ability to sticky this topic, but I feel it's a discussion that we may want to avoid in the long run. Let me explain why:

I've been a member of this place for a lot of years now (more than what my current status says) (c2005-2006). Anyways, I've seen these type of discussions arise in the past and I always see a negative outcome that isn't pleasant. The big problem is that you can't convince people. You can agree to disagree, but some folks get butt-hurt so much, that they go seek every post the opposing party makes outside this debate and harass you on other points, just to make you look like an idiot. Like payback.

This is why I stand with the rule: No Drama. And I've said it way too many times. We don't need another TB debate topic. If you see someone talk crap about TB, reply to them in a kind tone if you wish and leave it at that. No need to join a knighthood and protect it's virtue. It's just a piece of hardware that allows you do to something you can't do without it. This same goes to the haters of TB. No need to tell us why you won't buy it. Move on. Let's try to avoid a division in the community.

I mean well, so this is why I won't sticky this topic.. but then again, I don't speak for the others around here. Someone else might do it. That is all I have to say about this. Sorry.

@Jay-Jay - I don't think there's any way to avoid the drama on this. People are gonna rant about it one way or the other. Trying to give people a place to do it off of patch threads. Just trying out to see how it plays out the next release cycle. Time will tell

To avoid the drama is to not encourage these types of topics. It just instigates those that want to vent or bash. It will bleed through the rest of the topics if it's allowed here. Trust me. Sticky topics are reserved for knowledgeable/helpful topics.

    What's the point?
People who buy the TB are happy.
People who don't buy the TB are unhappy.

I think we've all read and heard everything there is about why not to get a TB from the haters. lol Nobody that is against TB has brought anything new to the table, except hurt feelings.

And it will be very difficult to convince people that use the TB to stop using it. lol
