And then you can just delete the game from the internal HDD when you are done playing it, meanwhile you still have a backup of the game on your external if you later wish to play the game again or if you happen to be a packrat or a collector like many of us.
Internal DOES NOT split any files it doesn't have too. The reason files are split on external is because it's a FAT32 partition which can only handle up to 4GB files. However, internal hard drive on PS3 is not FAT32 it's sony own proprietary partition which is like FAT32 but can handle files bigger than 4GB hence no splitting necessary. Of course Sony's method is proprietary so we cant use it on external, if we could splitting wouldn't be needed at all, so the next best thing is FAT32 (some people use NTFS which allows files bigger than 4GB but it screws up a lot and isnt worth the risk, because compatibility seems to be bad)

Maybe, you meant if he had previously split files from before TB and then moves to internal (after TB) to unsplit? is that what you meant?

And what do you mean, "meanwhile you still have a backup of the game on your external if you later wish to play the game again" the backup wont be all intact because of what i mentioned earlier about 4GB files on external, it'll only have up to 4GB of that file and wont work. If you truly want to back it up, obviously you can use a bluray or put the 4gb+ file(s) on internal and the rest of the game on external, then move those files on external back to internal for TB. Or if you quit using TB, do the same thing but then after merging 4GB file(s) and external files together on internal, move all of it back to external and MM should split it. Confusing I know.

Ok sorry for being a noob but I am still a bit lost.. if 4gb+ files are not supported on TB with MM like you mentioned below. What is the purpose of "Extract stream.psarc to work on external"?

And what does the "MI 1372mb" mean?

Important: Some 4GB split tools for Windows tend to put a "underscore line" before the name of the folder of the game rip, this way multiMAN can identify what games needs to do the unsplit function when trying to load it. Please make sure that when you copy the game over to the internal HDD, that it doesn't have this line--just use multiMAN's File Manager to rename the folder or use FTP. (see examples below)

    examples:
    Correct: BLES000132
    Incorrect: _BLES000132

Keep in mind that some games that have thousands of files when you extract a .psarc file, can cause an external HDD to choke and freeze the game play. So it's always a gamble, but worth testing at least once. Go ahead and test it for us, and let us know how to behaves. It's already been reported for this particular game that extracting the .psarc file will be successful on an external HDD. And no, there are no more settings to switch when doing this. Just load it with multiMAN as a normal game.

If FAT32 does not support >4gb files for the external how is the above possible? I am a bit lost... sorry..

    @PatrickBatman,

Here is what I meant about "unsplit".

That if you try to copy a game that has split files [filename.666##] of a 4GB+ file, when you use multiMAN copy feature from External HDD to Internal HDD, it will unsplit [combine] the files to it's original size. So if you have the game on the external HDD with those type of split files, multiMAN will put the game intact once you copy it over to the internal HDD. At least this is my understanding that this feature will still work with TB and multiMAN.

Now about keeping the game on the external HDD. Let's say you have a collection of games that have files that have the 4GB+ files. It would be nice to be able to keep them all in our internal HDDs, but eventually you'll run out of space--especially those that have 60 or 80GB PS3s. So what I suggested above is to keep the game on the external HDD whenever you no longer need to play the game (to archive it in your collection). And it will be there until (A) you desire to play it again on your internal HDD or (B) TB finally makes 4GB+ split files work on external HDD. And the user will have to be mindful that in multiMAN it will show duplicates of those particular games (one sits on the Internal HDD and another one sits on the External HDD) and he also has to remember which one plays and which one doesn't (at the moment). Boy, I hope that is clear, kinda of hard to explain it.

@migoto, the .psarc files are sometimes the big 4GB+ file in some games. And there is an extractor for .psarc files (like Unzip or WinRAR) that will extract the large file and give you bunch of folders and files for those folders. So basically the .psarc file is just one giant compressed file. Some games will work just fine when you extract this huge file and as long as you keep the proper order in the directory for these files, the PS3 will know where to fetch those files and folders from. You will have to Google ".psarc extraction" to understand the process. I've only done it to a few games, and had some work and some do not work on an external HDD, for the problem that arises that I mentioned earlier.

MI 1372mb means Mandatory Install of game data to your Internal HDD--it's just a precaution so you know that your Internal HDD will require some free space for this game in order to play. 1372mb would be like 1.3GBs

And you should know that there are tutorials about splitting files for multiMAN and that multiMAN is able to also split and unsplit files. This is all common ground. Please use Google and look up: split4G

This topic here, we would like for you to share with us your experiences with loading the games from the front page so we can make our chart complete for experienced users.

Ok, I finally get what you mean. The psarc extractor is not to split the big 4gb file but to extract the file so that it can still be used on the external drive. I wasn't really fully awake to tell the difference. Thanks for clearing that up..

@jayjay kept reading unsplit as split in your post for some reason, prolly cause i was sidetracked with ACR at the same time

@migoto, yeah what jayjay said is correct, just think of a 4GB+ .psarc as a huge .rar archive basically

I really don't blame you, I personally think that the word "unsplit" is confusing or perhaps not the correct term. Perhaps I should start using the word "Join" instead? I know that the tool "hjsplit" uses the words "Split" and "Join".

To tell you the truth, I don't even know where I got the term "unsplit". lol I think it was back in the day when I used to work with databases (MS DOS) and "unsplitting databases" - I think it was a DOS command.

Yeah thats my fault I put release dates on there for some users on another site I typed them in manually pretty quick, so that was bound to happen yeah it should read 12/16/11 obviously

The 78th game is not a NEW one, it's one I forgot as I confused Sengoku Basara 3 Utage and Sengoku Musou 3 Empiresi as being the same. So the "78th" game is Sengoku Basara 3 Utage released on 12/25. Sengoku Musou 3 Empiresi was released 12/10. Obviously I'm not a huge JP gamer.

Im more use to hearing Join, yeah that was prolly it. Video converter's use split and join or split and merge.
