My only question is do you need to have the dongle inserted every time you play backup games no matter if it's very old games like heavenly sword?Or does it only required when u play much newer games that no longer work with kmeaw cfw etc.

You need to keep it inserted even if you're playing old games. It acts like 3.55 official firmware when you take it out. If you plan on playing older games for a while and need the USB port freed up then you can just switch to KMEAW or REBUG 3.55 and you can take it out

It also works well from a USB hub

How do you switch cfw?Is it by re-installing it on top of the other?
