True Blue & and getting old games to work.

First ever post! Whoo ( claps* in a room by himself)

First of all I want to say this is a fanastic site and all you guys who make these possibilities happen, with your working out and solving problems and sharing info, you are friggan awesome.

So im here because I am at my wits end and I can't get this shit to work!

Had the blue for a while now. Gotten all the games i've needed to run which require TB patches to work 100% no worries at all. ( Dirt 3, Deus Ex, Need for Speed, MGS HD, Dead Rising, Rage, Etc Whatever)

My concern is, that I, for the life of me cannot get the friggan older games with no TB patches to work, whats so ever.
I have tried Black Ops, Gran Tourismo, Killzone etc. I am trying to get DarkSiders to work.

I know what your thinking " what is this guy? a friggan noob? just look it up on google .!."

YES I AM! and I've tried #$%^&*( god knows i've tried.

All I am Getting is Black Screen!!! %^&* You Black Screen!

Maybe its the true blue firmware and dongle? but i've read results of people working it out fine with TB. It even states it on the site that it should work.

Why don't I just change CFW and go to something that will work like cobra? Cos I CBF changing it all the time and I feel I shouldnt have too! :( #$%^!!

I have CFW 3.55 TB.
I have the latest MultiMan firmware and I have tried Previous Versions
My TB is not a clone.
My TB is up to date.
I have a slim.

For eg of what I have tried.
(Darksiders) Used multiman to mod and fix the eboot and param.
Tried running and failed. - Both HDD and External.
Tried a DIF HDD- Failed. ( Both internal and external)
Tried 2 Different rips of the game, 1 From a disc and 1 from the net. both (Bles).- Failed
Tried running as a Game Disc - Failed.
Tried using a already modded eboot- Failed.
Tried using PKG's with Shadow instal ( what ever its called, you know what I mean... #$%%^) ones I created with MM and also found on the net - both Failed.
Tried direct boot- Failed.
Tried with TB dongle IN and launching through MM - Failed.
Tried with TB dongle OUT and launching through MM -Failed.
Tried turning the BD-Emu off- Failed.
Tried using the BD-Emu Patch- Failed.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH ....you know,... its not so much the games, I don't really mind cos there is others to play. Its the fact that its beating me...
And its eating me alive......

Any hoo, thank you for listening. All advice is very much appreciated. You can flame my stupidity I don't mind. But please no flaming on "TB this" and "TB that".
I've got more than 20 Games on my HDD that work with TB. So only costing me $45 it was def worth the money.

Are the older titles rips from original discs? If they are make a new rip and see if that helps. if They are from another source than the disc or you dont have the disc anymore find a copy and dont ask us where please. also what backup manager are you using? I recomend the latest multiman.

Look at this post. http://psx-scene.com/forums/f265/tru...-thread-99116/ And read the information it says about BD-Mirror won't work anymore with True Blue. And also games with split files on External HDD will also not work with TB. I think that might be your problem. And also read all the older games what they need in order to work at the bottom from the TB compatibility chart. They are many listed (pre 3.56+ games). And also keep in mind that some games still play discless.

Games with 4GB+ split files on your external HDD, multiMAN will still be able to unite those files when you copy them to the Internal HDD using multiMAN Game Copy function. And make sure that in your GAME or GAMEZ directory these games with split files don't have an underscore "_" before the game folder. For example: _BLES0000 will fail. The correct one will be BLES0000 without the "_" before it. This was a trick for multiMAN to know what game backups had split files on external HDDs, so when you copy this backup to your internal HDD, make sure it doesn't have the "_" before the game folder ID or name. Or else multiMAN will still think it has split files on the Internal HDD and make it fail. And also keep in mind that multiMAN will be the only tool to unite these split files. Other copy managers may not be able to do this.

Also it's important to be running the latest Base or Full version of multiMAN (we are on 4.0.3.3 version).

If you try to run BD-Mirror with any game in multiMAN, you may risk bricking your TB Dongle--then you will have to buy another one. So pay attention to the Sticky topics in the True Blue section. Read all you can, so you don't end up doing something wrong that has already been reported by people with experience! BD-Mirror was required for some games to run, and you had to enable this by pressing SELECT+START or enabling BD-Mirror in the Game menu in multiMan for each Game. If you have these settings when you were using Kmeaw or another CFW, you must revert back these settings. For each game (that had BD-MIRROR enabled), go to the backup game folder (with FILE MANAGER) and find the PS3PATH.BUP file inside PS3_GAME folder and delete it. Then do a rescan of all your games in multiMAN. Then close multiMAN by using one of it's OFF buttons, so multiMAN saves these new settings.

Darksiders will only work on Internal HDD and requires any PS3 Game disc to work--load it from the disc icon and not the app_home icon in the XMB. And please stop using Direct Disc in multiMAN. Stop using those settings, unless someone who uses TB said you have to. You risk screwing up something!

Which Killzone? Be Specific!!!
Both Killzone 2 and Killzone 3 will only work on Internal HDD and requires a disk to run, because BD-Mirror and 4GB+ won't work on external HDD anymore with TB.

Gran Tourismo 5 will only work on Internal HDD and requires a disk to run...

Call Of Duty: Black OPS -- this game at one point required a special patch fix to make it work. You need to disable BD-Mirror on this game and also run it with a disc.

That's it for now, the rest you just need to read compatibility charts and etc... Have fun.

And also be mindful that if you install game updates, they may make some games to stop working.. especially if they have 3.56+ eboots on those patches.

RIP/COPY without TB Dongle:
NOTE: It's best to rip/copy original retail disc with dongle out, Kmeaw or Rebug 3.55 (NOT Rebug TB 3.55.2) and then play with dongle in as TB CFW has problems ripping some original discs correctly. Be sure to backup act.dat if using DLC etc as it will be erased when dongle is removed.

Were you ripping the games on the true blue CFW?

What JayJay said and games with 4GB+ wont work on external anymore unless you can extract a .psarc and sometimes that doesnt work (like Killzone 2 doesnt work with this method).

Dont use bdmirror or direct boot anymore. if any game is 3.56 like black ops, MK9, it will not play with 3.56 eboot only 3.55 and lower eboots will play on TBCFWv2 all other need a patch.

3.56 need patch to 3.55 (or lower), 3.60+ TB patch.

wow, thanks for the reply. Alright I will have a look and muck around and see what I can come up with. It was killzone 3 and used to work fine on cobra. I'll have a look at the thread with compatibility and try re ripping without dongle. I'll have a look at the files and what not :) thank you very much for your time and in depth advice. Very much appreciated. I will let you know.

Also it's very important that you have the latest TB firmware update installed and also the Dongle has the latest update as well.

Howdy, just thought I should let you know that I managed to get darksiders and GT 5 to work. Re updated everything! Re Ripped through latest mm without dongle inserted and patched the eboot. Booted from disc as you said and had nothing else selected and HAZAAR!! all good. I FTP'd GT5 instead of HDD transfer and all good. So thanks heaps! and i will try the others at a later date.

Anther good option to use on internal HDD games is Fix Permissions

after i update my TB to 2.7 i can't play my Dynasty warriors gundam 3 EUR,
it kicks me back to XMB and also my other older games :(
