I've posted an update to this problem, please read post #8 below (link) http://psx-scene.com/forums/f265/tb-...56/#post976913

When I turn on my PS3, I have noticed that if I have a BD disc inside the PS3 tray, the disc icon doesn't show up in the Game Column in the XMB. The only way to have this icon show up is to either run multiMAN or eject/insert disc.

I started to notice this ever since I updated my TB dongle to v2.7. I think it's TB, because when I boot up my PS3 without the TB dongle inserted, the disc icon shows up fine.

Please let me know if you guys are having this issue also?

I plan to first reinstall TB v2.7, and if that doesn't help, then revert back to TB v2.6 to see if the issue is still there. And if it is, then I plan to reinstall TB CFW 3.55. Hopefully you guys can make some suggestions.

What sucks about this right now for me, is that sometimes I want to play games that require a disc, and when I use the LASTGAME tool, it's not working for me, I have to run multiMAN, and well, I kind of miss the shortcut to this.

Don't bother worrying about it. I've had that issue since 2.5. Usually I can either just pop the disc out and back in, run multiMAN like you said, or run BD-Redirection Reset and the disc will show up

Are you just noticing this with 2.7 and not earlier versions?

Yes, since 2.7. I never had this issue prior to this. I could always keep an original game disc (same one) all the time, and it would be able to detect it without an issue when booting up with TB dongle inserted.

    Unfortunately, BDReset doesn't help.

Okay, I tried several ways to troubleshoot it, but no luck.

Tried reinstalling v2.7 and no luck.
Tried reverting back to v2.62 and no luck
Tried reinstalling OFW 3.55 and then reinstalling TB CFW 3.55 v2 and no luck.

It seems to be that if the dongle is inserted, the BD disc inside my tray does not show an icon when I first boot the PS3. I have to either eject/insert the disc or run multiMAN--bdRESET doesn't help.

I am not really sure if v2.7 caused this issue or when I tried to copy a DVDr with multiMAN (with new File Manger system) and when I got errors, I cancelled the task, and perhaps something else got corrupted? I can't recall whether I had noticed that after I had updated to v2.7 that the disc icon was not appearing or it was after I had failed testing to see if the new file manager could create an ISO image straight from a DVDr disc loaded into File Manager?

Has anyone here ever tested Resetting Default Settings with the PS3? Any things I should be aware of before I try this?

Mine has done this forever too way before 2.7 like always. I think TB team at some point even mentioned it's normal. So its actually odd that this wasn't happening to you.

Okay, I did a few more tests... Here are my results and conclusions.
(Please note that you may be one of the lucky ones that this issue doesn't happen to you, but I have a feeling it will if this problem isn't solved by TB.)

    Tested on a PS3 Slim (320GB)
    TB CFW 3.55 v2
TB Dongle with v2.7 installed (authentic, not a clone)

    The Problem:
When I boot up my PS3 (with TB Dongle inserted) with a PS3 BD game disc inside, it will not show a disc icon in the XMB Game Column (same thing goes if it's a music CD or DVD or Blu-Ray Movie, they will not show in their respectfully columns.) <--This is not normal.

    Workarounds:
There are only two ways for me to get the Disc Icon to return for the game or video or music:

    1. I have to eject/insert the disc again. <-- I don't like this, I am lazy!
    2. Or I have to load and then exit multiMAN (without choosing a game) <--at least I don't have to get off my chair!
    3. This does not work with (current version of) bdRESET: If I try to use bdRESET to bring back my disc icon after booting up the PS3, it will not work. In order for bdRESET to work as it should, I have to make sure I run/exit multiMAN each time I turn on the PS3.

    More tests:
When I launch lastGAME2, the last game I had loaded from multiMAN before turning off my PS3, the disc icon returns, so I have the option of choosing app_home or the disc icon to launch the game. <--seems we are back to normal, but not really, see below.

Now when I run bdRESET the disc icon still points to the game that was loaded by lastGAME2 and not the original disc inside the disc drive. <--This is not normal.

    Please test these various steps:
(Please note that you may be one of the lucky ones that this issue doesn't happen to you, but I have a feeling it will if this problem isn't solved by TB.)

    Test 1:
    1. Turn on the PS3 with a PS3 Game Disc inserted in the disc drive and with a TB dongle inserted.
    2. If you don't see the game disc icon, go to step 3 in Test 1. (If you see a disc icon, you are one of the lucky ones, but not for long...)
    3. Now run bdRESET. You will see it doesn't bring back the disc icon.
    4. Now load and exit multiMAN (without loading a game), the disc icon should now be present in your XMB game column.

    Test 2:
    1. Turn on the PS3 with a PS3 Game Disc inserted in the disc drive and with a TB dongle inserted.
    2. If you don't see the game disc icon, go to step 3 in Test 2. (If you see a disc icon, you are one of the lucky ones, but not for long...)
    3. If you use lastGAME2, go ahead and run it. It should load the last game you last ran before you turned off your PS3.
    4. Now run bdRESET. Notice that the disc icon is still pointing to the game you loaded with lastGAME2, but it will not load. It didn't reset to the actual game disc you have inside the PS3. You may be able to tell that when you select it, the background of the game (if it has one) doesn't even show. Seems like just a dummy icon.
    5. Now load and exit multiMAN (without loading a game), the true disc icon should now be present in your XMB game column. And if you repeat steps 3 and 4 from TEST 2, you will see that now both bdRESET and lastGAME2 works fine like it should.

    Test 3:
    1. Turn on the PS3 with a PS3 Game Disc inserted in the disc drive and without a TB dongle inserted. It should show the disc icon without any issues.

    Keep in mind:
If I load and exit multiMAN/mmCM (after each time I turn on the PS3) both lastGAME2 and bdRESET work like they should. I got no more problems until I turn off the PS3 and then boot it up with the TB dongle inserted--then we are back to square 1.

    Possible temporary workaround:
I strongly feel that deank's lastGAME2 and bdRESET are fine. They are not the problem here. But if deank could manage to add an extra feature to bdRESET to also mount app_home since I think True Blue techs forgot to put one command before XMB loads--this is why disc icon is not loading with the TB Dongle inserted and meanwhile the PS3 behaves like there is no actual disc inside the tray. Not until we load a powerful manager like multiMAN that has all those functions to make sure the disc is mounted when being launched.

I plan to send a PM to deank about this, hopefully he can give us a temporary workaround, until TB Techs fix this issue. -- UPDATE: see post #11 below for update, deank created an update/new version of bdRESET2 for us to use as a temporary fix for TB. Link: Click Here (TB 2.7 Bug? (Disc Icon doesn't show when booting with TB Dongle))

    Attention True Blue Techs:
Hopefully you guys can fix this issue on your end or at least explore if the problem is on your end, because it's not normal for disc icon to not to appear when we have the TB dongle inserted when we boot up our PS3. Keeping in mind that disc icon appears to be fine, when we boot up the PS3 without the TB Dongle.

(All TB "unofficial" forums, please feel free to copy/paste this post to your sites, so hopefully TB techs are made aware of this issue, so we can see a fix in the near future.)

    Thanks. Good to know.

I think it becomes front news when Jay-Jay has the problem with it! Because it shouldn't happen to me! (joke)
