system update needed to play reckoning?

just got home and son was telling me a system update was being prompted to reckoning, just played it today and was fine, played the run too. then i got sucked into FF Xiii-2 for like 3 hours before i knew it. anyways was al good before i left.(my son is smart and knows not to fu#k with daddy's ps3, lol. ) might i ad i did play with my Final fantasy gamesave but all was good. on the first try.
anyways i get home,
TB is green system FW says 3.55 TB 2.51, no usb plugged in on boot(incase)\
load multiman, hit games and select the disc icon, system FW needs to be 3.60....

what happened?
would really like to know what happened?

Solution..... ftp eboot patch and sfo(they where still there with my EBOOT.binog)
working again but my sons gamesave is gone..... and had to reinstall game data.
not sure about other saves ort game data havent and really dont want to look, but will after bedtime..
sorry for the story but wanted to be descriptive.

my gamesaves are intact, maybe he didnt save, but the "official update " and game data is weird/

Quick advice.
"Spoof Your System"
Some games (like Biohazard RS) won't work if your system not spoofed to 3.7x+

didnt know you could spoof TB cfw. thought you were supposed to get rid of all your spoofs before install.

You have to go back non-spoofed or ofw before TB cfw install.
But after you install the TBcfw you can spoof again. (look@ spoofer tools)
You don't have to edit param files every time.

Besides, games like a BiohazardRS is wants system update even you changed param & eboot.
Thats what happened to me.
Also, the BioCV & Bio4 is a pkg file on game disc.
But if you wanna play, you have to boot the game with multiman (tested) or boot any game, then you can play.
Or don't bother yoursef and use english psn versions
