Yeah i get where your going with that, but the game doesnt load all the 400,000 files at once. Whatever game your playing its loading just the files for that, just like if you were to split them up right? Or are you saying the game scans through all 400,000 to find the right file everytime.

Ok bro, I am ready today to provide you this info. Can you also do the same? I don't recall if you did post your list from the psarc files so I can then use my method to figure out if there are any differences inside these archives. Thanks in advance.

It might be easier for me if you provide this list in an attached txt file. Than pasting that info here. Thanks.

From my experience when games have such deep a long directories with many thousands of files inside of them, the External HDDs speed diminishes and it boggles down to a point that it just freezes up. I think it has to do with the read speed of FAT32 formatting. I've conducted tests to compare speeds between a NTFS vs FAT32 and NTFS is much faster to read and scan files within deep directories with thousands of files inside. In other words, FAT32 is the tortoise in that race.

I can't find that download either. I did not "delete" any post, just moved them here. Unless you are mistaking this other download? http://psx-scene.com/forums/f265/met...tml#post972778 (Metal Gear Solid HD EUR FIX plus how to make US/EUR work on external HDD?) -- those are the missing files from the EUR version.

--Nevermind, found it. It was posted here: http://psx-scene.com/forums/f265/met...tml#post972788 (Metal Gear Solid HD EUR FIX plus how to make US/EUR work on external HDD?)

Just in case you still need it mgshdpsarc.rar . It's unsorted and appears as the files appear in the archives. I'm not sure if the compression ratios will screw you up on comparisons, if so, I can get them removed from both sets. I don't think copying and pasting the text into the forum's code box will work. I think it's too many lines

I really do think that splitting the games into 3 will fix the external problem. I'm still waiting on those pain in the ass torrents, but as soon as it's done I can work up a simple download and .bat file to separate the games and to extract the PSARC files to the right place. I would only be able to do the US version with the patch, and would need the EUR file lists and somebody willing to test the Eur version. I gotta see if the game selection menu can be removed, but if not people would just have to remember to only load the right game that they have loaded in multiMAN

Here's some info about FAT32 limitations. More than likely that's where the problem is coming in with the 400,000 files depending on how they're split into folders

A FAT32 directory can have 65,536 directory entries. Each file and
subdirectory takes from two to thirteen entries, depending on the
length of its name, so those entries can disappear long before you
think you've used them all up. Your total of 22,657 files could very
    easily use 65,000 entries.

Okay here are the results of the differences between the US and EUR psarc files:

All the files are all named the same. The only difference is that the following files, their sizes are a bit different from each other.

@BahumatLord. I've attached the psarc.txt files for the EUR version for you to mess with if you need to.
(Sorry for the delay.. it took me a damn long time to highlight each difference below in red. )

@Jay-Jay - Thanks. I'm looking at the lists and they appear to be textures and the file size and compression ratio difference shouldn't matter. It's probably just the difference between pal and ntsc but any region PS3 can handle either so it should be fine. So the only difference between the unextracted versions are the names of the psarc files and the missing files I uploaded to you?

I'll be able to get a patch to run them from external by the end of the weekend by splitting them into 3 separate games to bypass the FAT32 limitations. That is unless somebody has a better idea?
Fiery the angels fell. Deep thunder rolled around their shoulders... burning with the fires of Orc.
