Metal Gear Solid HD EUR FIX plus how to make US/EUR work on external HDD?

@BahumatLord, yes, I did this: dir /s /b > print.tx But I then notice they were still not all sorted out and I went here and sorted your list and mine Sort My List - Alphabetize, Remove Line Breaks, Add Labels, Prune Text Then I used Compare It program so it can tell me what was different between the two txt files. And voila the results above. :)

@William2004, I would be very interested to know your results after you extract your psarc files and load them from external HDD. I could free up my internal HDD space. Thanks in advance!

Isn't this what it's all about? Testing, tag-teaming with each other in a free of drama environment. This is the site I always dreamed it should be and now it is. Good job to everyone involved!

You should have used dir /s /b /one > print.txt . It would have saved you the step of sorting the list

dir /s (subdirectories) /b (bare) /o (order) n (by name) e (then by extension)

Well my results so far for as far as External testing is that the game doesnt fully work
its seems that MGS 2 and 3 dont work but MGS: Peace Walker does, but its the only 1 of the 3 games that doesnt have an extracted psarc

i renamed all the files like on Internal drive test and also renamed the 2 folders created from the 2 psarc files extraction

keep in mind that even to play MGS: Peace Walker there is a 30 minute wait to verity files unless we can eliminate files that are unneeded

any other suggestions?

You've still got the EUR PSARC files right? Can you follow the instructions I posted earlier on how to list the contents. It only takes a few seconds

@William2004 - I'll have the list from the US PSARC files in a couple hours. go into your command prompt where your game is located and type

dir /s /b /one > MGSEUR.TXT

Give us that info and we'll see what's going on

Well if you havent already after extracting psarcs use PS3rip to eliminate extra files (dont worry it backs them up), then someone will have to go through and manually search or look for anything (if EU version) that has EU in the file and make them match US version so erase eu name or add us whatever case maybe. I havent seen the extracted files of either version so yeah doing a text compare would be good.

If only a few of the files from EU and US are completely different we could swap, but if too many it defeats the purpose. But yeah I would definitly use PS3 rip first after psarc extractions then use a text compare. Also use PS3rip on peace walker to see if any files can be deleted to hopefully shorten load time

Yeah, if it's only a few that need to be renamed or replaced, I can work up a patch for both the extracted files to play on external and also a patch to fix the PSARC files. We'll just have to see how it plays out

here's an example. Say your external drive where the game is located is the F drive. You'd type the following in command prompt

f:\
cd "\games\blesxxxxx"
dir /s /b /one > mgseur.txt

you'd substitute the blesxxxxx for whatever you have your folder named as. Leave the quotes

edit: you can also just save the following line into notepad. Save the file as runme.bat in the directory where your game is and run it. It'll give you the file we need

I'm not sure what your trying to locate in command prompt running PSRIP? or the location of game either way say you wanted to use PS3RIP in command prompt (never done that but anyway) you can just manually browse to the folder (not in command prompt) in windows right click and pick "open command window here"

just saw lords post yeah cd is the actual command but to make easier you can also do above.

EDIT: just look at Blords files listing. mainly mgs2 and 3 have us/ folders and then the rest other languages (that im sure were part of the 18991 files removed) my concern is the stage/ and slot/ directories. I also seen some camouflage directories (im guessing for mgs3 snake suits) offline folders which is probably for campaign mode only, so this may mean all the other camo directories are for online, but i only played snake eater on ps2 and dont recall if you can even play any mgs games online or does HD add this feature?

Anyway if eu psarc extracted is same as us we should see of course /eu in front instead of /us or something similar
