I don't promote, support or condone piracy, but ...

I can't seem to find the logic behind the following types of statements;

"We do not condone, support or promote piracy" & "We want a free TrueBlue software based solution so TB doesn't profit anymore off of the scene" & "piracy exists now without a free TB solution"

Okay, do you people not understand that cracking the TB code and implementing it will lead to massive piracy and even more so then there is now as everyone will gobble up the 100+ games it supports.

The justification given is to stop TB from making money off of code they wrote or free code they incorporated into their product.

The TB is all about game piracy. Give away a free version and that is it's only purpose and doing so will cost Sony six figures or more compared to the tens of thousands that the TB has made.

So you can throw the fact you don't support piracy if you want a free TrueBlue solution out of the window - it's a useless point spread by people who dislike anything they can't have RIGHT NOW & FOR FREE.

Free my friends is the key word. Free code. Free games. Massive Piracy.

I guess it could be argued that TB allows people on custom firmware to play their legitimately bought discs, but that would be a pretty naive thing to say.

Hey!

I'm one of those users who buys originals and plays them on custom firmware. Not everyone out there is a pirate. I support the developers who make great games. I just don't support Sony and their evil ways. Right now, I have several games that I currently can't play as I don't condone what Team True Blue has with all that anti-clone crap they put in. I even have GameStop receipts of those unplayable game if you want a look. Gotta find them though. I have Resistance 3, Ratchet and Clank: All 4 One and Jak and Daxter Collection that bought and can't play until either True Blue gets cracked or I crack and buy the lousy dongle. I just don't having to use THEIR custom firmware without PSN access and other hacks they won't allow.

Well I'm also counting on breaking the TB dongle so I guess I should explain my point of view and I can discuss this topic untill someone will start to offend me - I'm not planning to offend anyone ad everyone is entitled to have their opinion. As for the first slogan

it's quite a peculiar situation since PSX-Scene doesn't condone piracy but there's a big load of news about TB dongle. On the other hand, there are no links to downloads so it's also hard to judge.

As for other two well it's hard not to agree as they're both true. Piracy exists since I can remember and even before I was born (and I'm from '89), it's just that noone called that piracy back then. I also believe TB should be cracked as this could lead to further cracking the ps3 wide open and great developments. You're 100% right saying that it will increase piracy. But let's get back to the PSP times. CFW used to be free. They lead to massive increase of piracy. Did the scene hurt from it? In my opinion - no. There was always tons of news about new homebrews etc. Did breaking the PSP wide open lead to great developments? In my opinion - yes. So - again - in my opinion the scene will (OK, maybe MIGHT) benefit from cracking the TB.

And yes, I don't own the TB. But I also don't have a CFW anymore and I'm buyin my games. I updated when there was no possibility to play newer games on 3.55 kmeaw. So I'm not someone

Im obviously a TB supporter, the big flaw with the way they promote true blue, play original disc backups from HD is TB CFW wont even rip original disc properly half the time, you have to take the dongle out or use a different CFW, so there's that as well.

True, but it seems the latest trend is that everyone suddenly has two PS3's and they do not use their CFW for any sort of pirating and buy 100% of their games for their OFW. A simple post search will reveal 99% of these people are lying. Remember the "You have to delete this ROM after 24 hours" excuse? I'm not sure if you do I've got around 10 years on you. Personally I kept my PS3 at 3.15 with hopes that the Linux lawsuit against Sony would go through as I used my PS3 mainly as a Linux box because my second computer took a shit on me. When I got a new computer I upgraded to 4.11 and have started to play games I've purchased that sat on shelf for a long period of time.

Have I ever pirated anything? Yes I have.

Have I ever downloaded a PS3 game? Yes I have to fiddle around with what the ISO contained.

Have I ever played a pirated PS3 game or personal backup (personal backups are illegal in the USA [DMCA]). No.

I agree there are some who do indeed only play their own backups and even fewer that only use the PS3 for Showtime, but those are the 00.1%.

The whole backup system is flawed anyway, The purpose of backups are just that, your original disc gets stolen damaged beyond repair etc. Thus in most cases you wont have the original disc (because of theft etc) so you used the backup, thats what it's for. But if the FBI, DMCA, SOPA, CIA, INTERPOL, MPAA or whoever came knocking at your door they would say "You only have backups not the original disc" so you're screwed.

Also, one time my house was broken into and all my DVD were stolen (around the time DVD's were first being sold commercially) I had house insurance but the insurance company wouldn't replace the DVD's w/o a receipt, at that time keeping a receipt for a DVD sounded retarded. But now I keep the receipts but still after time the receipts fade and you can barely even read them, thus another problem, hence flawed.
