Will downgrade wipe my current hdd?
Will downgrade wipe my current hdd? –

Hello all,
I am pondering downgrading my 4.30 console with E3 flasher.
What I am wondering is if the process will wipe my (currently) internal HDD - mainly all my game saves. If so, are there any workarounds I can to backup and transfer over my saves? I am guessing the normal PS3 backup utility won't work so well.
Any and all advice would be appreciated.

Since you're using an E3 flasher, you have to have a NOR console (unless you soldered, which I doubt). So assuming you have a NOR console, YES, you will have to reformat your hard drive as parts of the firmware are stored on the hard drive and have to be overwritten. I may be wrong about that, but I would assume that you will lose your data.
You CAN transfer your save games to a USB drive and save them, then add them back after the flash.

you know whats cool tho?
you can take out your hdd now, then put a newer one in the ps3, then downgrade... then take the new hdd back out and put the old hdd in it and install 4.30 CFW and all yoru content should still be there

I didn't know that. I'll keep that in mind when my E3 flasher rolls in.
