Why is it still impossible to to a downgrade or install any CFW

Why is it still impossible to to a downgrade or install any CFW with the release of new keys etc etc, im on OFW 4.21 or something and i was wondering this, i been away from the ps3 scene for a while and dont understand much that is developed lately.
Is it possible to downgrade my ps3 slim thats on OFW without any flashers or whatever?
Whats holding the"install any CFW on any OFW" back????

set of keys that are (still) unknown (and it's not likely to be known anytime soon for a number of reasons - for example makers of hardware flashers will be out of the business).

its not because makers of hardware flashers will be out of business ,LOL

the real reason is because the private key used to sign the firmware PUPs is not stored anywhere in the PS3,and only SONY has this key,so its impossible to sign our own modified PUPs and install them on OFW.

The real reason is that Sony fixed the main exploit meaning 3.60+ you cant get anything CFW related except through a hardware flasher. Which is why you see most things that still revolve around 3.55 CFW

Funniest thing is if Geohot never told exactly what he did along with failoverflow this would of been an error that Sony would have overlooked but ohwell...

So can't someone steal the keys from Sony?

Do you have the hacking knowledge to breach Sony's network security deep enough to find where the keep the key, defeat whatever security they use, copy the key, and get away without the police kicking your front door in? No, I don't think you do. (That's assuming the key is even stored on a network; if it isn't, you'd have to physically break in and hack the computer that it is stored on, which isn't on the internet.)

Besides, that would be called ILLEGAL and we aren't striving to do that. If the information (aka the private keys) are leaked to us, it's not our fault, but if we forcefully take the keys, we're probably going to jail.

No, not hacking. I was referring to espionage. Break into the physical location where the data is kept.
Also, DUH of course espionage is illegal. I won't do it, but I'm sure there are people who are living outside the law who won't mind! XD

Well, if I was the type of person to be interested in espionage, I wouldn't waste it on something as trivial as the PS3's private keys. Lol.

Maybe after the PS4 is out some angry worker who get fired at Sony will leak the private keys, but not now as it hurt their financial position

Did you forget the incident that when Sony (PSN to be specific) was breached, a hacker (or a group of some) had extracted thousands (or millions, I'm not sure) of PSN accounts' information from the Sony servers? The people who did this got away and they still haven't been caught for a while. It's pretty much a strong bet that Sony has already gave up on looking for the people who did this. Customers' personal and bank information are taken to be more serious than a simple set of private keys. Thousands of hackers commit cyber crimes literally everyday and not all of them get caught. It all depends on thier knowledge, actions and techniques on how to get away safely.

And illegal? What did you say? The law book was written by a set of imperfect human beings, as we all are, for many particular reasons. This book is filled with errors, loopholes and questionable morals. This book doesn't magically fix every problem in our world. Everybody think differently. In Sony's eyes, hacking thier PS3s is illegal. Downloading and playing free games is illegal. Hell, most things are illegal. Yet millions of people commit "illegal" acts everyday and the world & societies are still spinning just fine. Many people who commit illegal acts know that whatever they are doing is illegal, but they didn't do it to justify their "illegal" statuses.
