    hi All,

i would like to ask if itīs possible to repair a ps3 v3.56 that is stucked in service mode by flashing it with progskeet or a similar flasher.

that is a good question, but maybe this depends also on nor and nand.

in service mode on nor (nand?) the hdd gets locked and automatically partitioned from system. i dunno if this is a flag in flash or directly on hdd. maybe this could prevent you from successfully downgrading. if the flags are only on flash you should be good to go but as i said i have no experience on this.

but i woud try it out as there can be no more harm than you have right now (with backup). maybe you need the original hdd?

I really hate to say this but there was a sticky saying that you shouldnt go into service mode with a 3.56+ ps3 because it needs to stay there unfortunately there is no fix to the problem right now... next time read up on things before you try kay?

If its an older fat that uses a nanad chip then it should be fine as all the firmware is stored on the nand and flashing it will pretty much delete everything or at very least it will drop you to 3.55 in service mode then you can simply down grade to 3.41 and turn off service mode the traditional way.

A slim or newer fat with a nor chip could be an issue because most of the firmware is stored on the hdd. Though I clearly remember seeing a video of the e3 flasher and he was in service mode on 3.55 after he finished flashing a slim to 3.55 then he was able to turn it off by what appeared to be just a flip of a switch, so if I had to guess I would say 70% chance it would fix the issue, I only say that because no one has really been able to test this yet and its all in theory.

when i have my flasher i will test this out, just to be sure for myself.

    edit
the problem with the hdd (if there's any) could be solved maybe by completely erasing it on pc. and i would try it with original hdd just incase.

E3 is actually on half dual boot. I don't remember they was talking about fix a 3.56 service mode console. Maybe i'm wrong.

If you're going to buy an E3, mail support with your problem, and tell us their answer , before buy something you could regret

theoretically this could be possible seeing as when you flash the FW it should put you in Service Mode for the FW you downgrade to (if possible I would downgrade to 3.41 as the lv2diag.self is to exit 3.50 and below)
