first of all thanks to mathieulh (the receipt maker) and solidpsycho (the cook) i address my question to the more experienced users here Quakes69 chesh and Omnomnom. I got a Slim 320 GB CECH-2504B according to this information http://psx-scene.com/forums/635505-post69.html packages with bold letters on it maybe are safe to downgrade, however i'm still confused by the service mode, as i understand there are usb dongles (example at90usb162) to get to service mode and for example you could use a iphone 3g with iopenboot and naidroid to get the service mode (source: http://www.ps3hax.net/showthread.php?t=13260). is this the same thing or is there a difference? can i use the iphone method to downgrade my ps3 when i get confirmation that bold letters on the packaging indicate a successful downgrade? will my iphone act the same way as the at90usb162 dongle for example? and as a background info my ps3 came with 3.50 out of the box, but the thing is, the seller i bought the ps3 from is opening packages to check if contets are missing (back in the psp days, i remember this "excuse" was used because sony has told their sellers to manually upgrade each psp because of security risks and because shipping all units back to sony for an update and shipping the psp's back to the seller generates enormous costs) i already asked the seller if the ps3 i got was updated OR shipped back to sony OR shipped to the distributor he got the ps3's from for updates or anything else but still have no answer and i dont think the seller would tell me even if they did...
Service mode is service mode, no matter how you get into it.
You can do that via a jailbreak dongle, iphone, ipod, etc etc etc
What's important is that once you're in service mode and follow the tutorial, you plug in your THUMB DRIVE with the lv2self.diag from the first post along with the pup solidpsycho released into your ps3. Don't go plugging in your phone or ipod or anything like that.
yeah the chart is here if we mean the same one http://psx-scene.com/forums/f118/lis...wngrade-73430/ according to it my ps3 should have come with 3.41 since its 2504B. thanks Omnomnom and chesh for the replys i really appreciate posts like yours.
thanks Quake69 another question do i downgrade from 3.50 straight or should i update first to 3.55 and then downgrade to 3.41? and what is the disadvantage updating to 3.55 (many people said stay at 3.50 and wait) since as i understand the way this downgrade-method works it doesnt matter if its 3.50 or 3.55 if i get this right?
Ok, So I'm rather new to all of this. I've been reading like crazy, I've got my payload device setup and ready to rock today when I get home. My question is this; I'm using the iphodroid method with my iphone 3g. So, when exactly will I know when my ps3 is in service mode? Every tut I've read, it just gives you instructions to continue the jailbreak and then the machine should boot up with the two files. So I'm a bit confused as to when exactly I'll be in service mode? Do I load up the iphone 3g payload and it automatically kicks it into service mode? Or do I continue the rest of the procedure for jailbreak? Any help would be appreciated.
EDIT: i think i may have fixed the brick thank god =)
