New to PS3 scene, help me clear up some concepts
I recently bought a PS3 Superslim, intending to downgrade it, load in a CFW, and play backups. But once I did my research, I found that it is currently impossible. I then proceeded to buy a used Fat PS3 CECH-E01, but it was already on OFW 4.31.
I did a bit reading and I think I have a grasp on what's what, but I'm not entirely sure due to the sheer amount of knowledge and acronyms.
So here's my interpretation as to how things work:
If you want to use your PS3 to play backups:
1) Get your firmware to 3.55
2) Install a CFW
3) Install Multiman or some equivalent loader
4) Enjoy backups
However, if your PS3 firmware is newer than 3.55 AND a downgradeable model, then there are no software downgrades available, and you MUST hardware downgrade using the following method:
1) Obtain the appropriate Progskeet (NAND or NOR)
2) Obtain an Injectus programmer part
3) Load the appropriate data onto the Progskeet chip via Injectus
4) Open up your PS3 and install the Progskeet chip
6) Close up and begin installation of a CFW.
Iím a little confused at this point. I am sure I am missing some steps.
Just a few questions then.
-What steps am I missing?
-What makes 3.55 so important (some keys were leaked or something?)
-If 4.31 "keys" are leaked, can it be jailbroken/unlocked/homebrew-capable from 4.31?
-Do I need anything else other than a Progskeet chip and Injectus? Some sort of soldering tool perhaps?
Sorry, I am completely new to this. I tried to read Bailey's guide to downgrading but I only understood so much.
Thanks for your time.
