How do you mean the recovery menu wouldn't work? I use it all the time on both 4.11 and 3.55. it's a key part of the software in all versions that I have ever used.

did you exit FSM? if you never exited FSM then just put the files i mentioned on the thumb drive and then put it in the right usb and turn on the ps3.

so i guess the question is... did you exit FSM?

    better yet,
    1. put the CFW you were on right before you bricked (3.55 CFW), ON the thumb drive along with the downgrader lv2diag.self. (366 kb, also known as "file 1")
    2. put the thumb drive in the right usb port.
    3. power on the ps3 and let it install.
    4. once it installs and powers off, turn the ps3 on and be sure it boots, if it doesnt, the use rogero v3.1 along with the "file 1" lv2diag. and repeat the process.

that WILL work as long as you didnt exit FSM after you semi bricked.

if that doesnt work, then you need to literally dump the flash contents and upload it for inspection.

Simple thing to remember when doing FSM updating...

If the PS3's green led blinks for longer than 30 seconds then the PUP you used is no good - check the downgrader log for errors

If successful the PS3's green led will blink a few times then power off - this means you have a good PUP/update.

Be happy that is isn't a perma-brick. It's completely recoverable. You're just having core-os problems. The only solution is with a flasher. Progskeet or E3.

If you used the modified 3.41 .PUP that is the downgrade modified with 3.55 and also it recommends that you upgrade with a 3.15 .PUP. Then The .PUP that you want to use. I have a CECH-G01, what I would do is put it in
FSM. And use the 1.) Lv2diag.self + the OFW 3.15 .PUP then use then Use the 2.) Lv2diag.self to leave FSM.
