Does the syscon check stop you running 3.41 ?

Hi,

I'm trying to get a battleplan in my head.. I'm looking at going from 3.73 ofw to 3.55 nocheck cfw (via E3 Flasher). My understanding is that the no check is required because of a syscon check, but does that mean I can't go to 3.41 ofw or cfw ?

Basically the intention is to try out linux on it.

I'm not 100% sure, but AFAIK the syscon hash checks were implemented in 3.55.
Anyway what I suggest you do is, after duccessfully downgrading to 3.55-nocheck (after the full downgrade process, aka going to service mode and installing pup etc), make another dump of your NAND/NOR, then downgrade to 3.41 using the service mode downgrade. If it bricks, just reflash your NAND/NOR with the working 3.55 dump you made after downgrading.

EDIT : Wait, just thought that the PS3 needs to be powered up for you to flash the NOR, so this might be a bad idea, since if 3.41 does actually have those checks, it will try to turn off your PS3 when you try to boot it, leaving you unable to flash. Wait for some answers from people with more knowledge than this.

I would be careful I thought hash checks were implemented in 1.50 and thats why 1.60 to 1.50 downgrades with infectus wouldn't boot where 1.50 to 1.0 would boot.(its been a few years)


Also your flasher can be used to power the nor



I think sony allowed hash checks to be changed up until 3.55 and after that changed the way they work and 3.55 and lower can't change 3.56+ hashes otherwise I can't figure out why infectus couldn't downgrade 1.60 but I can go to 1.0 with my ps3 and service mode or q/a

Yup, bad idea, Just installed a 3.55OFW after a 3.73 downgrade (DONT TRY IT!!) was going to test 3.41 after so no idea on that one, gota try fix this brick :P

FYI, reflashing the 3.7x patched flash for downgrading does nothing, DONT TRY IT!! If i figure out how to fix this console ill let everyone know.

Downgrading should where possible be done with Q/A. Only use service mode / Hardware Flasher if QA isnt a viable option

FYI, reflashing the 3.7x patched flash for downgrading does nothing, DONT TRY IT!! If i figure out how to fix this console ill let everyone know.

Disregard the above statement, just a poorly timed YLOD If a normal 3.55 ofw is installed it will just not boot successfully, it can still be re-flashed.

yup all worked well, went to 3.55 nocheck cfw then used service mode to install modified 3.41 and then went down to 3.15,
after that i was able to install a 3.55OFW that rehashed my syscon value

oh fantastic, so it's as if you never upgraded from 3.55 ofw in the first place ?

Hi,
I downgraded my ps3 fat CECHH 3.70 to 3.55 nocheck with progskeet, when i used service mode and install CFW 3.41, when i didn't exit from service mode and went down to 3.40. And then I got red blinking ps3 .
After that I re-flashed NOR to patched 3.70 and went up to 3.55 nocheck.
How can I downgrade 3.55 nocheck to 3.41OFW. Please help.
