    Hi
I own a PS3 Chech2504a with OFW 4.31 and want to switch to Rogero CFW 4.30
I already read tons of articles but still am a bit confused?

Just wanted to make sure that I don`t brick my PS3, so a few questions before I go ahead with my PS3

To my understanding I have to go down to OFW 3.55 (I have a E3 Flasher already) by installing the Flasher (with clip) and downgrade to OFW 3.55 (taking some backups of nor of course and checking them before).

Is there a special Fw I have to use for this?

When I`m on OFW 3.55 I can upgrade to CFW 4.30, do I have to use a dongle? Anything else I have to take care of?
Cuz I read on antoher site that I can go directly to CFW 4.30 with a usb stick updating via xmb?

    Thx for your replies

did you check if your model was within the date range to be able to downgrade?

run minverchk on it to see how low you can downgrade

After downgrading you should install Kmeaw 3.55 CFW. That will dehash your system. Next install, run and verify QA flag. After that, you can update to any 4.xx CFW (no dongle necessary).

I think he still needs a PS3 Jig (dongle like PSBreak) to downgrade successfully. Just having the E3 Flasher isn't enough afaik.

(Still have to do the same process as OP, but all the guides pointed to the necessity of a PS3 jig).

Otherwise, yeah you have the process nailed down. Good luck!

Yes, you also need PS3 Jig to downgrade, but I was answering this specific question.

here man, ill do you a favor....

    ps3devwiki.com/E3
i dunno how anyone else downgrades, but i install togle qa and run it before i install any other unpatched firmware :0

DO NOT DOWNGRADE TO 3.55 OFW DIRECTLY.

DOWNGRADE WITH ROGERO v3.7 (3.55 CFW) then install and run toggle qa.pkg

then you can install any CFW/OFW

my personal suggestion to you is to read up on the process from start to finish.

    Thx for your help

So here the process as far as I understand it:
Install E3 Flash. (i prefer the version with a clip since I`m not very talented with a soldering iron).
    Making backups of original Nor
    Verifying those backups (HxD ...)
Downgrade to roge. v3.7 (3.55 cfw)
    Install and run toggle qa
Update to roge. Ccfw 4.30 i think it`s V2. at the moment?

I read that multiman should be installed before upgrading to CFW 4.30 is that correct so this would be inbetween point 4 and 6
Having done so I can do further installations (showtime, irisman...) via multiman?
