I have a 3.42 PS3 Slim (Move Bundle). I purchased the E3 Card Reader (USB Stick) and I flashed the bios of it per instructions I found on the internet. The blue led came on so I know the stick upgraded successfully. But when I put it into the PS3 the red light comes on as soon as the PS3 starts up and the light turns off about one minute later. I tried the Press power and then immediately press eject method. Am I doing something wrong? I read something about the 3.42 being the version Sony prevented jailbreaking devices from working on. Can my PS3 even be downgraded? Any help or feedback would be most appreciated

Why would you even want to do this? Update to the official 3.55 firmware, then install 3.55-kmeaw and enjoy a real jailbroken PS3...

@brandogg Mulsiphix might not know about CFW. @Mulsiphix Custom firmware also know (CFW) is much better then jailbreaking, but if you already know about CFW and want to jailbreak instead for some reason you can downgrade if you QA flag your ps3 and to do that you will have to go on 3.55 CFW.

Thank you for your quick responses! I really appreciate the help guys. So I should just update my PS3 (usb stick and ofw) to OFW 3.55, then obtain Kmeaw 3.55 and I won't need to jailbreak at all?

Yes, update to official firmware 3.55 with a regular USB stick, then update to Kmeaw or rebug 3.55. Enjoy.
