Well, have you tried using that mode yet? I found the mode, and it's the 640x960 VGA mode.

Oh well, I could have really been just misled. I don't actually have GSM on my Memory Cards anymore, and my PS2 isn't connected to a screen that I can use right now.

So yea, have you tried the 640x480i mode then? Or if that doesn't work, have you tried any of the other interlaced VGA modes?

thing is, these are the only 2 VGA modes GSM can handle, unlike xploder hdtv player that also has 800x600, 1024x768 and 1280x1024, all of them work with my monitor, but everytime i press start to reload OSDSYS (i have the cracked hdtv player) it just shows STARTING GAME and it returns to the video mode selector.

i also tried with the hdtv modes in GSM, 480p gives de same result, 576p doesn't show in my monitor, 720p works but it looks like all the colors been replaced by purple, and 1080i just shows garbage on the screen.

Most games were not designed for higher resolutions anyway, so using modes with resolutions above 480P isn't practical.

You won't get any graphical improvements with higher resolutions because most games were catered for the NTSC or PAL video standards. The graphics will just get upscaled.

As for your problem with the Xploder HDTV software, I can't really help you because you are the first person who I've come across to have actually used that software. Have you tried another copy from a different source?

look like the cracked version w/ auto-reboot is trying to load a file on the cd/dvd, if the file (or a game) is not on the drive = no reboot and you'r stuck on the menu.

I was going to create a new post here but this is almost my question exactly.

I recently purchased a component cable and component to VGA adapter for my PS2 (I'll get the details off my PS2 later).

Last night I tried hooking it up to my Acer X203Hbd (I just contacted Acer and my monitor does support Sync On Green! )

With my PS2 connected to my monitor and set to Y Cb/Pb Cr/Pr output my monitor was black, but I didn't get a "no signal" message like I usually do.
I changed the setting to VGA and my monitor said no signal.

I know people here are saying I need to play a game that supports HD output, but shouldn't I be able to see the PS2 boot screen? All I'm getting is black.

I'll try Resident Evil 4 in HD mode and see what happens.

My PS2 is unmodified and I'm not using Xploder HDTV or anything of the like.

So I got home from work and tried it again, this time with Resident Evil 4 (cross and triangle to use progressive scan mode)

Set my PS2 to RGB (I think; black screen, remember) and set it to progressive scan; it worked! The picture was a bit "ghosty" though, especially on the Capcom logo.
Set my PS2 to Y Cb/Pb Cr/Pr (once again, I *think* that's what I set it to); it worked this time too, but the screen had a green tint to it (no ghosting though). Is this a Sync-On-Green problem?

1) OSDSYS (browser, config, etc...) won't show because it's resolution is the same as PAL or NTSC (whichever your system uses), no matter what settings you use (either Y Cb/Pb Cr/Pr or RGB) because the resolution is too low, and/or not formatted enough to show as a vga standard.

2) Ghosty picture: happens to me too.

3) progressive scan = 640x480 @ 60Hz. Standard VGA resolution. This is why it shows up. You can force this mode with GSM, but not all games will work, only those with the progressive scan option.

4) PC monitors only support SOG in RGB/VGA mode, this is why you are getting a green tinted screen.

Hi guys, i am trying to connect my ps2 slim to my monitor , and i am slightly frustrated. I have 90004c with matrix infinity 1.99 chip. My monitor is Samsung 223BW, it supports SOG.
I have a component cable, and an vga adapter to connect , my ps2 to the monitor.
When i connect all and run the ps2 and the monitor, i see that there is a signal on my monitor but the screen is black, and flickers telling from time to time that he has some problems with the resolution (i tried to switch the cables, and saw that this happens only when the green cable is in, when the green cable isn't connected monitor doesn't see the ps2 at all).

Because my screen is black, i tried to go into the ps2 menu guided by the sound, and switched the configuration of output. When i changed it, the monitor didn't saw the ps2 at all, so i switched back.

The next thing i did, is i burned and run the HDTV boot disk to force the VGA output, but pressing the triangle and start didn't help at all, the screen is still flickering .

Now i found this thread, and GSM mode selector. Is there a GSM boot disk, and can i somehow miraculously guided by the sound , blind, force my monitor to see the ps2. Or must i carry it to someone who has a TV ?

(Ps. i am a student in a dorm, and i really don't need a TV right now, in case that you are wondering why i don't have one.)

I have same problem have Samsung B2230 Monitor. Connected component, rca to vga cable. I can get display with gsm036 640x480 mode. Image was small box at screen, im looking solution.
