Has anyone tried this? I want to hook up my ps2 to a 19 inch led PC monitor, since my tv is a regular crt with composite (yellow, red, white) inputs only, and we all know that's not the best way to achieve a certain grade of image quality... and yes, the monitor does support sync-on-green.

You need a converter for this such as HDTV Component to VGA Converter -- DataPro
Will not work with a component to vga cable . They exist but for other purposes , not for consoles
Also you might do the trick with a capture card or tv tuner into your PC , you can also improve image via software with certain filters ( such as sharpness ..etc )

component to vga cable will work unlike what people say here if you are sure your monitor supports SoG. But you have to use this program first to output for VGA.

Well, have you tried it yourself? already have GSM, but a guy posted a tutorial on how to make a VGA cable (using a component cable and a vga connector and he said the only thing you had to do was to set the internal options of the console to output RGB and not YPbPr, making gsm useless... of course i will use it anyway to output at least 720p in all my games, but would be nice to know it shows image even without using gsm.

As far as i know nothing outputs vga video on PS2 except PS2 linux and a few games (I don't know which ones).

I am using GSM for the component inputs on my TV. I would prefer VGA but my monitor doesn't support SoG so i don't use VGA.

Anyway even if your monitor supports SoG, you won't see anything on your monitor until you boot GSM and select VGA mode. You can assign buttons in ULaunch for quick boot. After booting GSM, you can choose VGA mode. Practice what you have to do with composite cables first.

I don't advise resolutions over 480p because the picture will not be scaled to cover the full screen of your monitor so it will be centered. That means in most cases you will have huge borders. i mostly stick to 480p for this reason and enjoy the progressive picture.

    Thanks for the link.

However, i bought the component cable and the component to vga adapter. The only way for it to work on my monitor was enabling RGB (instead of YPbPr) mode in the ps2 settings, and then using the 480p VGA in GSM, most games won't work at all, only showing a black screen. The only games i can see working are the ones with progressive scan mode... and that's a pain in the ass. I could've tried Xploder HDTV Player, but it will only boot discs, and my ps2 has a dead drive...

Look around, you can find a Xploder HDTV Player patched to reset the console instead of launching games (but i never tryed it), search for free mcboot packs.

Quote from an other site i'v found 2min aggo on google
Xploader works with HDLoader. After you run this program, console will restart and everything will be runing in HD mode.

    my ps2 is only softmodded!
