Question about PS3 with CFW
Question about PS3 with CFW –

How do cfw ps3's do as far as playing PS1 and PS2 backups and or off of a hard drive? Is the compatibility with games the same as a modded PS2 using esr, hd loader, opl? With the added ability to play PS1 games as well? If you have any links you pm to me so I can read up. That would be helpful as well.

Only backwards compatible models can play pirated ps2 games with cobra
Regular ps3 models can play pirated ps1 games with cobra or RE UP psn ps1 classics
Lets cut the crap 98% of the time backups means pirated games

So what you are saying is the original PS3 models can play pirated PS2 and PS1 games and the new slim models can only play the PS1 games? All this I understand means while it has a dongle of some sort. I am just trying to figure out if I should ditch the PS1 and PS2 system for a PS3 that can play all of the above.

No. Only the original 60gb/20gb can play them. Also the other 60gb model that haves the software emulation can play them as-well. Anything other than those models I mentioned cant play ps2 games but ps1 games all ps3 models can play them.
Want my advice if you have a ps2 just soft mod it and get a HD to play the ps2 games on there it would save you alot of time just doing that. Ps3 you are going to find a hard time finding a decent 3.55 model console without spending a good 250 on it. I still have my softmodded ps2 for all my ps2 games.
Funny thing I always wanted the original 60gb ps3 model BUT everywhere I went they was all sold out but at the time I was 16 and didn't really know about ebay. But in reality if you have a large HD in your ps2 along with the network adapter you dont really need the BC ps3 but be warned if you do by one... 60% chance you will get a YLOD since that console is over 5-6 years old UNLESS you buy one brand new but then you will be spending a fortune on it

I hear ya. I had a release day 60gb model at one time but had to sell it due to serious financial issues and I am scouting around to find one. Fortunately I have a good friend who runs a game store at a flea market and I'm sure he can help me out also I have another friend who owns a pawn shop so I am hoping they can snag me one that hasn't YLOD yet. I was just wondering if I could get the whole deal in one package PS1/PS2/PS3. I do have a soft-modded PS2 that I am happy with but I would like to be able to play PS1 games as well and if I am going to have to buy a PS1 and a PS3 to complete my collection then why don't i just get one that can do all three.
