Please help... big MGS4 problem :(
Please help... big MGS4 problem :( –
Hello fellow members, this is my first post here and i'm glad i joined your community. However, i'm experiencing a rather messed-up situation right now, and i really hope you can help me out.
I was enjoying MGS4 when i encountered this. I'm playing Act 3 (Eastern Europe) and am at the motorcycle chase trying to escape with EVA. Then i get to the point where they reach the bridge, and that Raging Raven appears, and the van and bike are seen splitting up. Now, here comes the issue. After this cutscene a loadingscreen appears, but after 2/3 sec the game crashes and i'm back at the XMB.
I've tried and tried, but the same thing happens. Even after reinstalling the game data multiple times (and copying back the savegame) it still crashes. I even rented a different copy (and installing the game data again) but nothing helps! I'm really worried about this, as you might understand.
My PS3 isn't jailbroken or anything, it's a Slim 160GB model, like 3 months old. It's an EU version. Can you please help me out???
the only thing i could tell you since you're not on a CFW console and you've already tried to reinstall the game data is that you might not have the latest update. Is your PS3 connected online all the time? if not you'll have to search for the update through your pc. I've had some minor issues with FMV similar to what you're having. It's due to my old early generation HDTV. It only supports 1080 and 480 resolutions and from time to time has trouble displaying correctly. I get a black screen during the launch of Hydrophobia Prophecy at the first FMV sequence, but if I change my ps3 from the HDMI cable to the RCA (yellow, red, white) cable that came with the ps3, then the game launches and plays fine. You may have to do something similar until you get past the point of game crash, save your game, then switch back to your regular display settings
Well my system version is 4.00, to my knowledge the latest version. I could try your suggestion, but i doubt it will work, i play on an SDTV, however i do have the HD-upscaling option enabled, and it displays all my games fine. I shall try this and get back to you.
It's just a really weird crash, it happens right in the middle of loading (at the exact same moment every time) before i can press Start to continue. Could the error be saved along with the game's progress/system data saves somehow? And would resetting the entire system be of any help?
Well i tried it with the HD-upscaler disabled, and the same thing happened. Also, i play using the RCA cables all the time... but it seems to be some data-type error i think. I never had this problem before with any game, where my game just quits to XMB for no reason at all. The way it happens, seems to be similar to when you choose to quit the game via the PS-button. Please does anyone have any suggestions??? This is really starting to bug me big-time...
For instance, does anyone know when Konami released their latest MGS4 update and what version that is? I can't find anything on the web even close to this problem i'm having, only with jailbreak versions.
It's hard to work on official firmware consoles, but you could try to find a savegame file past where you are getting stuck at and using that one. There are many sites where these are found at and they are saved at different points in the game. They usually have good descriptions as to where you are in the story. If the save is protected/encrypted to the original user, then you would need to use ps3saveunlocker to change the other user's savegame into one that your ps3 will recognize as yours. Sorry, I don't have links for you. The save unlocker is easily found through google and you'll have to do some searching to find the correct savegame you want to use.
Allright, i'll try that out, see what happens.
But what do you suggest is best, try and find one close to the crash-point (after of course) or does it not really matter?
I'd try to find one as close to the crash point (but after) as you can so you don't miss too much gameplay. It's better that you look through the savegame sites yourself so you can understand it in case you have a problem in the future with that game or another one, but if you can't find what you're looking for, then give me the game id of your copy and a good description of where it crashes as best as you can. Send me your savegame that you've been playing off of and I'll see if I can find one and set it for your console. I probably won't be monitoring this thread anymore, so just drop me a private message. good luck

Yeah i have been searching, but no luck, only completed saves. I'll get back to you with my info and the save file.

Does ANYONE have a suggestion for me??? Sure there have to be others who had this problem... i can't be the only one! lol...
I tried deleting most of my demo's i had installed, copied a lot of vids to my usb... trying to create room for the data to be installed to, since it must be some hardware error... cleared around 30GB... still no luck... this is depressing as hell man...
(BTW BahumatLord, i'll try to gather my data for you this week... but i can't seem to PM you, because i'm not allowed yet...)
